OT: I've sold an original story!

Christopher

Hi, all! The contract's been signed, so I can announce that I've finally sold another work of original fiction -- not Star Trek, not Marvel, something purely my own. My novelette "The Hub of the Matter" will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact. It's not yet scheduled, but I'll let you know when it is. Going by my previous two Analog sales, it probably won't be until early next year.

"The Hub of the Matter" is a humorous (I hope) SF story, but one set in a reasonably plausible universe where the humor comes from the characters and situations. It's a universe I'm hoping to return to in future stories.

I hope it's okay to post this here. I'm just so thrilled to have sold something original again.

Congrats. I don't think I've read much Analog since Ben Bova was editor but I'll be sure to pick up a copy of this issue.

Hasn't Stanley Schmidt been nominated for a Hugo for best editor for something like 25 years in a row and he hasn't won one yet. Seems a shame.

Cool, I've really enjoyed your Trek work, and I will definitely try to check this out. Where would you find the magazine?

Where would you find the magazine?

Not as many places as you once could, alas, but a respectably-sized bookstore or a newsstand should carry them. And my original post contains a link to their site, where you can order issues or subscriptions.

Congrats Christopher. Oddly enough I just sent out my subscription and payment in the mail this morning. Look forward to the story.

Congratulations! I recently discovered that my local library currently receives the magazine and has back issues to borrow. What issues have your previous stories appeared in, Christopher?

November 1998 and December 2000. It's been a while. I hope your library's collection goes back that far.

Hmm. I'd have to check, but no I don't think it does. Shucks.

I've been developing some sci-fi stuff of my own, and was hoping to submit a short story to Analog, but it's looking more and more like that story is better served by being part of a novel. If I do come up with something else that works in a short format, I'll send it in. I like the stuff they publish.
