Orphan Black - Season 2 Discussion

To nobody's surprise and everybody's disappointment, the Emmys failed to nominate Tatiana Maslany again.

OTOH, last weekend, the show swept the television categories and added a fourth award at the Constellation Awards, which are Canadian fan awards for SF and related genres in TV and film:

Best Male Performance in a 2013 Science Fiction Television Episode: Jordan Gavaris, "Variations Under Domestication"

Best Female Performance in a 2013 Science Fiction Television Episode: Tatiana Maslany, "Variations Under Domestication"

Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2013

Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2013: Tatiana Maslany

The only one of those that was even close was Best Male Performance: Jordan Gavaris got 27% of the vote to Matt Smith's 25% (for "Time of the Doctor"), followed by John Hurt ("Day of the Doctor") at 17%.

I came across this the other night on Facebook:

Maslany will get her revenge. When the best-actress winner claims her trophy, the trophy will reveal itself to be Maslany in disguise.

Modern Family gets nominated every year and wins most if not all of them.

Right their should show how big of a joke that trash known as Emmies are.

I stopped taking the Emmys (and awards in general) seriously a long time ago. They're not about quality, they're just about what the limited pool of voters is familiar with and fond of.

The thing is...the awards show has an audience of MILLIONS, which could get new people to try out a nominee.

Maslany really deserves that recognition.

But then again, John Noble was completely ignored as well, despite his amazing performance.

We need some sci-fi geeks to infiltrate the Academy!

Wouldn't Modern Family only be in the comedy categories anyway? I don't think it would be competition for OB.

Oh yeah, that's not my point.

My point is as long as they keep nominating Modern Family for every damn thing under the sun why would we ever expect them to nominate something / someone who deserves it?

It's not funny, and it's not a drama. It's a bunch of rich brats complaining about how hard their lives are.

Seth is snooty and snotty but also nerdy which leads to moments like that. But where else will you see Anna Chlumsky tell that her favorite comic was Transmetropolitan?
