original body parts

I have a friend that just had a knee replacement. I wonder if he has an x-ray of it. I'll have to ask. The hardware is interesting to see.

As of four hours ago, I am sans one more wisdom tooth. I hurt!
:scream: Hope you get better. :) Last time I had a tooth pulled, it hurt for days on end due to a dry socket (according to my sister who is also a dentist)
How does that happen? Is it due to general dehydration?
and had to go back for pain control and redressing. Not like the first time when I actually had two wisdom teeth removed on one session - that was completely painless afterwards.
And yes, the procedure on both occasions was "safe."

It's really not necessary to go to such lengths to get involved in our Threads.
:)
I hope you feel better soon. :(
This one's actually not as bad as the last one. I think the oral surgeon was a lot more skilled than the dentist I saw a few years ago. Or maybe it's the codeine.

I got two fake hips. I forgot the medical term for it, but the blood stopped flowing to my hips and the bone died. The doctor thinks the steroid shots I received from the VA caused the bones to die.

SO here I am, 42 years old with a double hip replacement. The bad thing is they only last 10-15 years so I am looking at getting them done again in my 50s and maybe even my 70s. My right hip was replaced in 2006 and the left in 2007.

I think the term you are looking for is bilateral hip replacement. My doctor told me I should be good for 20 to 25 years with my new hips.

Let's see: four wisdom teeth, one appendix, and two Fallopian tubes are missing from the complete set of me. ;)

It's due to dislodging of the blood clot in the empty gum socket after extraction - I believe the clinical term is alveolar osteitis.

I've had bilateral hip replacement.

You also have a button-up crotch. :wtf:
They use to make me take my 501's off, now they realize what are buttons and rivets and what isn't! They must have taken classes on how to read X-rays I guess.

Ah, so those actualy are the buttons of your fly. I thought maybe you had some crazy bone structure or other implants.

"I like the button fly -that's one place I don't want sharp, interlocking teeth."

It's called avascular necrosis (AVN). My husband got it from steroid treatments for his allergies. He had both his hips replaced when he was 33. He'll be due to get a new set in about 6 years.

As for me, I am only missing my two upper wisdom teeth. I was supposed to get the lower ones removed 15 years ago, but I decided they are fine right where they are, impacted below the gumline. I know someday I willl regret not having them removed.
