I've had bilateral hip replacement.
As of four hours ago, I am sans one more wisdom tooth. I hurt!
I feel your pain, I've had all 4 of mine pulled, I knew I was in trouble when the dentist put his knee on my chest to get more leverage. I think I was in pain for 5 days after.
It is a nasty business, isn't it? I got lucky this time around. I went to a really expensive oral surgeon, and man, he is expensive for a reason! When I got the upper right wisdom tooth removed a few years ago, it took about 20 minutes of wrenching, pulling, drilling, and grinding -- all of which I was fully conscious for -- to get the sucker out. This time, I spent ten anxious minutes laying in the chair waiting for the anesthetic to work, anticipating the pain; when the oral surgeon was finally ready, I opened my mouth and steeled myself for the ordeal. He yanked for about 30 seconds, then took his hands out of my mouth, I thought to get another tool. I still had my eyes tightly closed, waiting for him to go back in, when he said, "Here's your tooth!"I feel your pain, I've had all 4 of mine pulled, I knew I was in trouble when the dentist put his knee on my chest to get more leverage. 30 seconds! And it was done!
And he had a dreamy French accent.

Hope you get better. 
Last time I had a tooth pulled, it hurt for days on end due to a dry socket (according to my sister who is also a dentist) and had to go back for pain control and redressing. Not like the first time when I actually had two wisdom teeth removed on one session - that was completely painless afterwards. And yes, the procedure on both occasions was "safe."
Apart from those three permanent losses, the only other such loss was that circumcision around my globe with a 50 foot clipper.
Got my adenoids removed when I was 6.
My wisdom teeth and a couple more teeth are out, apparently my mouth was too small to accomodate them all, I also had to wear braces to fix the damage the wisdom teeth had done to all the others by pushing them about.
But I guess the biggest thing is that I was born with three kidneys and nobody noticed until I was 8. They had to remove the third one as it was causing some chaos, the naughty little thing.
I'm happy about that because it means the cats in the hospital backyard probably got a good meal that day.
Also, due to that, I am officially considered a mutant.

They use to make me take my 501's off, now they realize what are buttons and rivets and what isn't! They must have taken classes on how to read X-rays I guess.
It's really not necessary to go to such lengths to get involved in our Threads. I hope you feel better soon.
I had one tooth removed, and that's all. No appendix removal, no tonsil removal, no foreskin removal, no surgery of any kind. Which is remarkable considering how clumsy I am.
