Opening Scene of Trek XI

By the end of that sequence, I was sure this wasn't the Star Trek I'd grown up with.

Which was why I loved it.

It was one of the very few, if not only emotionally provoking scenes in Star Trek history. Mostly because of the "I'm not going to be there" line.

1) Yup. Definitely the best intro scene... by a considerable margin.

2) Not that all of the others where terrible- I think the Trek films typically have strong opening sequences. Just none as good as XI.

3) I hope the opening scene of XII tops it.

I agree. It is my favorite opening as well and for me it is the most emotional opening to a trek movie. Really tear jerking. Probably the best part of the movie, too.

It is indeed packing an emotional punch. I saw the movie once in the theatre and three times on DVD. The last two times I skipped the end of the intro. Self-sacrificing love can be a tad too heart-wrenching at times.

Loved the opening scene and when the star trek logo come up and the music what a great way to start to the movie !!!!
