Online "radio"

So I'm sitting here enjoying some CBC Radio 3, and got to wondering if there's anyone else here who enjoys online radio? I certainly do, my other regular station to listen to is Radio Paradise, which generally plays a nice eclectic mix of... lots of stuff. Radio 3, on the other hand, is great for discovering Canadian indie music, so they provide a nice enjoyable contrast.

And certainly both are far better than traditional, commercial radio. I can barely stand to listen to most conventional stations; it's always the same music, over and over, and far too much advertising. Blech.

Anyone else out there have some online favourites?

There's this one station I like (I heard it through iTunes' Radio), it's called Soma.FM. Basically they take ambient music tracks and splice in audio samples from old NASA missions (and some current ones). It sounds better than it...sounds. :D

^ That's pretty cool, actually. I love good cover songs, so I'll have to check some of those out. :)

I haven't listened to Online Radio other than various music sites like Pandora and Last.Fm. I too prefer podcasts since they're topic oriented and there's a wide variety out there, and one can take music only for so long.

Oh yes. I like to listen to broadcasts from other countries. I try to stick to ones that speak English, but sometimes I try to listen to French broadcasts so I can brush up on my understanding of the language. Music from other countries is interesting to sample as well. Pop artists in Japan and Germany, Techno in Sweden and Finland, and Rock from Britain. It's fun. :)

A few years ago, I tried a few Australian based stations, but none compare to the station i listen to now. But I generally only listen in the morning, and sometimes in the afternoon.

I listen to a lot of internet radio and podcasts. Currently I tend to listen to the streaming Shoutcasts as seen on Winamp. I was introduced to an 80s music stream a while back, and I've bookmarked other streams since, including chill-out and mash-up.
