Highlight for me....I always enjoy the knight on horseback scenes from "Shore Leave".
Lowlight....The Gorgan from "And The Children Shall Lead".
It took me a while to know that the Gorgan was played by Melvin Belli. He was an attorney who represented Jack Ruby, the man who shot Lee Harvey Oswald. He represented a litany Hollywood stars. His son I think was one of kids in that episode. He was a big blowhard so the role fit him.
But yeah it is not one of my favorite episodes.

IIRC, Melvin Belli was a friend or acquaintance of Fred Freiburger. He may have been a good attorney, but he was a lousy actor.
Lowlight: Shahna's ridiculous tin-foil bikini, which Barbarella would have been embarrased to wear.
Bill Theiss said he really disliked using metallic fabrics for ST costumes, but I guess time and budget limitations sometimes overuled his best intentions. I also thought that the Elaan of Troyius lace and silver costume she wore in the engineering scenes was kind of silly looking, too.
Lowlight- Spock's Brain, surely this episode has to be the granddaddy of Voyager's episode Threshold.

Highlight: The ship to Ship combat sequences (between the Enterprise and the Klingon D7) in the episode "Elaan of Troyius".
Lowlight: "Steppin' into Eden...Yay brother..." from "Way to Eden" (Although I do love in the remastered version how the VFX people made the stolen ship look like a 1960ies era VW Bus with warp nacelles
).

Acting wasn't necessary in this instance, just being a fat blob was sufficient.
You've got to be kidding on your lowlight. Kim Darby, well no more needs to be said. But most egregiously, are you actually casting aspersions on Michael J. Pollard? Inconceivable. An icon of the era. Have you never seen Bonnie and Clyde or Little Fauss and Big Halsy? Even if his filmography might not verify it, he always seemed to me the Pied Piper of the youth rebellion/hippie generation. He even played such a character in LIS' The Magic Mirror. For discerning critics, that episode has always been seen to have really serious psychological undertones and subtexts, probably one of the most thoughtfully conceived Season 1 entries after the initial pilot spinouts. Laugh if you want, but I'm not kidding. You can look it up.

Lowlight: Kirk's wrap around tunic. Ugh!

Not casting aspersions on Mr. Pollard's acting talent, but he seemed awfully old to be playing a pre-adolescent in "Miri" (he was 27 at the time).
I was actually going to remark on that disconnect but ultimately chose not to. I think he was the oldest looking of the lot by far, wasn't he? It's interesting that Miri was the next in line to be afflicted by the Phage, yet Darby was 7 or 8 years younger than Pollard, but I suppose she was so very youthful looking for a rather long time.
Anyway, Kilana2's comment only mentioned the gang being annoying, not looking age inappropriate. But thinking about a bit more now, other than the merits I pointed out as regards the two major players, I will grant that they were pretty noisome.
