Who Mourns for Adonais?
The Enterprise is firing phasers at his Temple and Apollo's zapping lighting right back at it, shouting "... STOP!!! ... STOP!!! ... STOP!!!" Don't ask me why, I can't even explain it, myself, that always kind of impressed me, the drama of it. It's so over the top, it verges on comical, but it's played out deathly serious. I mean, he's in a glittering toga, with sandals and a crown of laurel leaves. How can anything he says or does ever be taken seriously? When he fires those bolts of lightning, though ... I believe. He's desperate to save himself and his panic is quite palpable. I haven't watched it in a long time, but all that with the "... STOP!!!" just ... it really gets you in the gut, there.
That was perhaps the only time in the series where Spock visibly showed emotion without any outside influence, and it was done perfectly.Spock realizes he didn't kill Kirk in Amok Time. His reaction to seeing Jim alive in sickbay is priceless and showcases the depth of their friendship.
'Assignment Earth' when Spock neck pinches Gary Seven and it has no effect on him.
Don't forget Losira from "That Which Survives". Sulu's phaser didn't stop her.![]()
Yes, he shot her right around the belly button.
I'm surprised he didn't aim at the two targets just a little higher.....

That moment is made all the more amazing by the fact that Spock's expression changes from surprise to glee just as Shatner crosses in front of Nimoy. By the time Spock's face is visible again, he's in a full-on grin. It gives the scene a bit more surprise, and it's all the more effective for it. I don't know if that was the idea of Nimoy, Shatner, the director, or some combination of all three, but it's terrifically done.Spock realizes he didn't kill Kirk in Amok Time. His reaction to seeing Jim alive in sickbay is priceless and showcases the depth of their friendship.
