Once Upon a Time (ABC) - 1x02 till the bitter end

Obviously I'm an idiot.

(have you ever had one of those years?)

but Mary Margaret admitted the box they found the heart in was her jewellery box, so of course it would have her figerprints on it.

Is it a one woman sheriffs department or does Emma have a CSI team in the basement?

I don't have access to the episode right now, but you're saying that they arrested Mary Magaret for suspicion, and then confirmed the fingerprints?

Can you plead the 5th on fingerprints?

Well MM out and out says it was her jewelry box. Therefore, I think that was enough to hold her.

Finger prints don't seem to be too much of a stretch for a sleepy little town's sheriff.

DNA though would be a horse of a different color.

I just assumed that a human heart in your jewelry box = slammer. It does not matter if they had confirmation of whose it was because it was a human heart.

I thought they were just going off the supposition it belonged to Katherine. MM has not been arraigned had she? That is why the meeting with the dastardly DA took place or did I just mentally supply that explanation?

Unless she's certified the court will reject fingerprints taken by or read by Emma.

how big is a district?

I'd assume that a District Attorney would have a few towns other than Stroybrook to look after?

I'd think a show like this would want villains who are a little deeper and better motivated than ones out of fairy tales. I get that this show draws stories from fairy tales, but it doesn't need to draw cardboard-thinness of motivations from them.

Well considering how ridiculously, over the top evil she ends up being, it would be hard to make her transition THAT believable. Short of her being ritualistically abused since childhood, or watching Snow White massacre her entire family with a meat cleaver, there's only so much you can do to explain why she becomes as dark and evil as she does.

Personally I thought they did just enough to make it believable, while still keeping it very "fairy tale."

And considering how young Snow was during this, I get the feeling it's not the only time she does something to offend the Queen anyway.

The little actress they got to play Snow was fantastic. She aped GG so well that it was almost creepy.

Yeah it was absolutely eerie how much she looked like her. Everything from her mannerisms to her smile to her way of talking was absolutely dead on.

I thought for sure it would end up being Goodwin's daughter or sister or something, but apparently they're no relation at all.

Ditto - that's one of the best jobs casting an actor to play the younger version of another actor I've ever seen.

Regina seemed pretty screwy to blame a little kid for being tricked by her evil bitch mother, but I guess we just have to believe Regina is fundamentally evil, too...?

Or, she just knew she couldn't take it out in her stronger mother so she focused her rage on someone she COULD hurt.

If they wanted to deliver that message, the writers failed. It's a plausible explanation, but I'm not inclined to do the writers' work for them. I need to see that they've thought of it, and put it into the script.

Regina could have pretended to go along with Mommy Dearest, learned magic and struck back when she was powerful enough. That would have kept her rage focused on the proper target and not on Snow, which just makes Regina look stupid and cowardly, far worse than being evil. At least being evil can be cool, but stupidity and cowardice never is.

If you still have some residual conscience, it is much easier to hate a brat who got your true love killed by breaking her promise for no reason other than she thought she knew better than to contemplate a years long campaign to kill your own mother. Plus, the mother has magic powers. The Vortaesque plan may be smart but it's pretty conscienceless by normal human standards.

She had been hiding that stable boy form her mother for YEARS!!!!

Snow held onto the secret for a day.

I'm thinking that Regina had to kill her mother to take the old girls magic which is a story we may eventually see.

I imagine the resentment of Snow festered inside her over the following few years, especially after all the attention Snow gets as the fairest in the land.

I think it's just about the best motivation we could have got which makes us understand Regina a bit more whilst keeping our sympathy with Snow White.

well I finish the grimm stories and loved them. do you think they'll add the princess and the frog?

That kid was really amazing. Reminded me of River Phoenix from Last Crusade.

Looks like Catherine was being held captive in that secret dungeon, and somehow Rumpy worked his magic to spring her.

The actress who played young Snow was fantastic, I had to double check IMDB to make sure they didn't simply de-age Ginnifer Goodwin, LOL. It's easy enough to say the young actress is simply good at that one impression, but, I'm leaning towards her being a great actress, because her crying was very believable as well.

So, I wonder if something actually does happen to you when you cross the border out of Storybrook, or if all that happens is Regina locks you away in the Dungeon?

I'm on board with the theory that August is Rumple's son Bae the Bard, hopefully we'll find out in the next episode

Belle and Maleficent return in episodes airing next month
Have we seen the second character yet? I don't remember them.
Yea, in one of the first few episodes
They were bargaining magic with each other

Emily DeRaven from lost, and Kristin Baur from True Blood.

Belle is beauty from Beaufy and the beast, and Maleficent is the other evil queen made popular by the Sleeping beauty mythology.

Ah, I forgot that was her.

It looks like they're going there. :wtf:

Where, you might ask? Click here for the spoilery scoop. Or just wait till April 29. :D

I think they're just leading us on anyway.
Nothing's going to happen between Regina and David, regardless of what kind of devious potions she might whip up. It ain't that kind of show. :rommie:
