Once Upon a Time (ABC) - 1x02 till the bitter end

So, Jefferson is sitting pretty with access to everyplace right now. As long as he keeps his mouth shut about how he got to whichever world he's in now. Emma will probably confiscate the hat and keep it locked up somewhere.
Well, he's not exactly sitting pretty, because he wants his kid back. So he's got a vested interest in breaking the curse.

True - but at least he knows what's going on, and he has access to a wide range of realities where he might learn more about what to do. That beats where everyone else is, clueless and in some cases, imprisoned.

Since he believes that Emma is the key to breaking the curse, his next move is simple. Pop back into the real world, grab Emma and drag her off to Wonderland or Fairy Tale town (or Atlantis - one of the doors leads to Atlantis, right? :)) That will make it a bit more difficult for her to remain in denial.

Then the problem becomes, what is she supposed to do to break the curse? Presumably something more than just becoming aware of it.

Well, it's been foreshadowed that True Love is the cure to any curse-- and that love is the most powerful magic (and those little DNA-like strands of hair in the bottle a couple of weeks ago imply that Emma is the embodiment of love). And it was Emma's kiss that restored the old sheriff's memory. So, apparently, to break the curse Emma must have a love scene with either the Evil Queen or Rumpelstiltskin. Or not.

Another question is whether Fairy Tale land even still exists, since there seemed to be some ruins buried in the mine.

There is no prospect of the Mad Hatter returning, because he doesn't have the magic hat, which has driven him mad. Our last scene is seeing him raving as he attempts to recreate one. For him, breaking the curse is a tragic ending. August is the character who's going to play some role in the conflict, not Jefferson.

All female characters of any note thus far already have Fairytaleland personas, except for Emma. Any fairy tale persona she acquires will center on swans, in some form, whether Ugly Duckling or Black. If they go the Swan Lake route, it could be that Emma Swan the ordinary human sheriff is her cursed form and the Fairytaleland uncursed form would be a fairy tale princess, no more but no less, born to Charming and Snow White. And the prince who loves her may lose her to the real world forever if he falls for the deceits of the Black Swan. If they go the Ugly Duckling route, she turns out not to be an ordinary human aka duck, but magic, a true swan.

Breaking the curse possibly will involve someone who truly loves Regina kissing her, possibly Henry, as Regina in effect breaks the curse herself by finding a happy "ending" of her own; Gold kissing the real world equivalent of Belle, whatever her name is; Emma finding her true love (August?). Or it could just be the boring old kill the sorceress to end the curse.

There is no prospect of the Mad Hatter returning
Wanna bet on that? ;)

Well, it's been foreshadowed that True Love is the cure to any curse--

So the girl needs to fall in love! Too bad the hotty sherrif is kaput. So that leaves hotty Ioan Bailey and hotty Jefferson, who despite his attitude/sanity problem may be a possibility...

Or Emma can arm-wrestle Belle for Rumples.

Rumple has true love in a bottle.

He can crack it out when ever he wants... If he had access to the fairy world.

Considering that the show is something of a hit and will likely last a couple more seasons at least, I think it is laughable to be theorizing with any degree of seriousness about the show's endgame right now.

The mythology is going to get much, much more convoluted and complicated. New, seemingly important, characters are going to keep popping up almost every week. Some ambiguity will probably be added to Regina and some of the others.

But other than James and Mary getting together at the end(or maybe one of them dies, THAT would be a cool twist around season three) nothing seems set in stone yet.

Do we know for a fact that the curse will even be a multi-year story arc? Just look at shows like Lost, Alias, Smallville, and Heroes, they completely changed story arcs almost every season. I wouldn't be at all shocked if the curse was broken and a new story was set up by the end of this season.

Nah, one season would be too soon. They haven't built the story to the midpoint yet. I would like to see the arc end with the second season, but have my doubts they could come up with a new arc going with the basis of the show. They'll just stretch this whole thing out longer than anyone will care for. Hell, the back and forth on Snow/Charming will they/won't they is already showing fatigue.

"The Stable Boy" was an excellent episode, one of the best so far. I loved seeing the Evil Queen's early days, and the little girl they got to play the young Snow White was pretty good too. Very earnest. She was also a really good likeness of Ginnifer Goodwin. At first, I thought they used some sort of "trick" to make Goodwin look younger. Anyway, what pushed this one over the top for me was seeing that under the pain, suffering and evil were people doing what they thought was best. I felt for all three involved... Snow White, Regina and her mother.

I loved this episode. I wasn't totally surprised by Regina's backstory, but I thought it was very well done. I liked the fact that they had her looking very different here, I honestly didn't even realize that that was Regina in the first scene until the very end of it. I also thought the girl who played young Snow was really good. I'm very curious what will happen in Storybrooke after the way this one ended. I'm also wondering what happened to Regina's mother, I don't remember seeing her or hearing any references to her in any of the other episodes.

Regina buried the box herself? And she's strong enough to break a shovel doing it?

The "murder" being a sting by Gold really heats up Regina vs. Gold, indeed, Swan vs. Regina sort of pales. We really need to know how the heart being Kathrerine's was faked. And we really need to know what happened to David in the woods.

The Storybrooke segment was very attenuated this week. We got a couple of twists but the big one was only at the end. The Queen's backstory was logical but Lana Parrilla really sold it. You get used to actors selling a simple characterization with makeup, costume and theatricality, then someone, like she did last night, does something really different. Very impressive.

The little actress they got to play Snow was fantastic. She aped GG so well that it was almost creepy.

I really loved Regina's back story. When she was standing there in that wedding gown you could hear the ice creeping into her voice and could almost hear the armor clicking into place.

I say that mommy dearest is a dead woman. Regina will take her time and slowly build up her defenses and then her mother is going pay. The road to revenge is wide in front of her.

The Mad Hatter has got to come back. Where ever Jefferson is you can bet his singing "working my way back to you babe" and is hell bent on getting back to "magical" Emma and his baby girl.

I still say that August is Bey. We don't know how much time elapsed between Rumple becoming Rumple and Belle's arrival at the house. She finds a room full of things for a little boy and Rumple says that he "lost" his little boy or something to that effect.

The previews show the blade with Rumple's name on it and then shows August getting ready to hurt/threaten Rumple. You can hear Rumple's voice - "He is here to kill me."

August being Bey explains him being "immune" to the curse. Emma and Henry are outside of the curse because she was sent from fairyland before the curse hit. She and her son Henry are of this world. August being Bey would explain why the curse does not seem to effect him. (He can come and go as he pleases.) Also, Regina has no idea who August is. Thus far the evil Queen has everyone's number but she was mystified by August.

The only two people that Gold cares about are Belle and Bey. He thinks Belle is dead. I don't think the would create a curse that would doom him baby boy. I say that the curse had a Bey loophole.

Katherine showing up in that parking lot was a great twist. Gold has screwed the Queen over yet again. Breaking out the Team Gold t-shirt.

Even though I love mad hatter ep I don't think he's coming back. I think the hat worked and he went trough to wondrland. I wonder how many others from wonderland are in our town.

I have to echo the praise of the actress playing the young Snow White. The resemblance to Ginnifer Goodwin was uncanny.

She was good for a young actress and almost a dead ringer. I am just glad to find out why the queen is so pissed at snow. I just thought it was a vanity thing. Now I am wondering if the queen's mother spooked snow's horse.
