OMG I`m loving SGU

Stargate Universe is like Enterprise. The ship looks great, the sets are great, the special effects and the production values are all great.
The parts of the show that matter, the writing, the direction (is there one?) the characters, the acting, all are horrible beyond belief.

Much better than SG:A; which lost me about 6 shows in.
That about sums it up.
While I agree certain parts of the show leave a lot to be desired, I think it has potential, especially it the writers realize that "Dark and Gritty" isn't synonymous with "dialogue full of existential angst."
I'll tune in next season, since I very rarely regularly watch the first season of anything, and I was there for every episode.

I haven't watched the last 12-13 episodes for the most part. But nice try! Continue to act like a superior know it all! The only time I had watched the later episodes is when I was over a friends, who is oddly a fan, and we weren't really paying attention, but I can tell I didn't miss much.
I think it's better than SGA was at this point. Looking back SGA wasn't all that and a bag of chips. In retrospect it isn't as good as I first thought it was. It's not like SGu is all that great but I do enjoy it quite a bit.
It's kind of OK. Certainly has the advantage of being the only space opera currently on TV... that limits the options. 
And I do agree that it is an improvement to Atlantis.

Nothing beats SG-1, not Atlantis not SGU
SGU has a neat premise, but really, wasn't that the Atlantis premise? Sounds like they couldn't get it right the first time, so I'm not so confident they can get it right the second time.
It is so obviously a nuBSG clone, or at least, they are trying to emulate that kind of atmosphere, but really it is too little too late. IF this has been on at the SAME TIME as nuBSG, maybe it would seem more new and fresh, but right now, its kinda already been done.
It has potential, but so far has been pretty boring. Maybe S2 will pick up.

Actually if you had bothered to watch all of SGU u opinion might mean something. The last 12 - 13 episodes start to bring the show together imo.

The Chloe/Scott/Eli thing reminds me of SG-1's 200th episode where they put hip 20-something emo characters into title roles. That was a funny parody, and then they did it for real...

I wouldn't let it get you down. This board has historically had a lot of Stargate haters who end up drowning out the ones who like it. Just look at this poll: most of the people who say they love it haven't actually posted in this thread.

I'm really enjoying SGU as well! I would say it is leaps and bounds better than SGA (which I felt was trying too hard to be SG1, and failed at it), and about on par with SG1. SGU and SG1 do two different things very well, and it's kinda hard for me to compare the two and pick out a better one. The last two episodes were awesome!
Hey am just going off past history sicne you seems to dislike much of season 2-5 of SG-A and continued to watch for that 4 year period. Well since you don't watch I look forward to still reading your opinions of why future episodes suck after they air.
