Thanks James Bond, but I`m not sure I`ll have time to join another board...

Well if you want sweetness and light in relationship to Universe that is the only place to go. especially since they have suppressed the Stargate hardcore who don't see Universe as worthy.

The 1st season was solid enough to make me watch the 2nd. I would assume BigDaddy then you felt unimpressed enough to not watch anymore SG-U then ? oh what am I saying of course you will.

I haven't watched the last 12-13 episodes for the most part. But nice try! Continue to act like a superior know it all! The only time I had watched the later episodes is when I was over a friends, who is oddly a fan, and we weren't really paying attention, but I can tell I didn't miss much.

Actually if you had bothered to watch all of SGU u opinion might mean something. The last 12 - 13 episodes start to bring the show together imo.

I`m sad to see so much negatitive regarding this show.

I wouldn't let it get to you, most of the negative posters on this board had decided to hate Stargate Universe long before it actually aired.

If you're looking for a better Stargate crowd, check out Gateworld.

GateWorld is only a more positive Stargate forum because they banned all negative talk about Stargate Universe. Censorship is not the answer to a good board.

Right, because anyone who doesn't like the same shows that you do is a hater. They have no legitimate complaints at all.

Here, read this.

Oh please save your righteous indignation, you know as well as i do that there are certain posters on this board who will never, ever praise anything related to Stargate regardless of its actual quality. And it's why its ultimately pointless ever trying to discuss anything about the shows on this board because the second you do you have the same half dozen posters leaping in to decry Stargate as the worst show in existance.

Every board has posters who like to troll. There will always be posters who bash something to get a rise out of people. I'm not complaining about you pointing that out. What I'm complaining about is this part of your post:

most of the negative posters on this board had decided to hate Stargate Universe long before it actually aired.
You're clearly saying that the majority of people who dislike Universe are being irrational and/or trolls. Yes, there's a few of them here, but the vast majority of negative posters here have legitimate complaints about Universe and they shouldn't be ignored in favour of GateWorld's extreme censorship policy.

There are some aspects of SGU I wouldn't have done - things like the "Eli's a Kino-wielding Pervert" and the "Lt. Hugeboobs Can't Find a Man" sub-plots - but overall I've enjoyed it much more than most other recent shows.

The show has tried to make the distinctly untrustworthy military characters the "heroes" of the show while painting civilians like Rush and Wray as villains a bit too much too. One wonders how much O'Neill knows about what's really going on on Destiny and whether or not he'd be so eager to support Young if he found out that his people were using threats and violence against the civilians.

I like SG but it was generally just a case of disengaging my brain and enjoying the ride. There were a few awesome plots over the years but it was mostly bubble gum sci fi. I can't say that I understand the dislike for Atlantis either - I always found it to be reasonably enjoyable.

However, SGU I find intriguing. It is channelling a bit of NuBSG but that's not a bad thing and, like many new shows, it is still finding its feet. They do need to dial up the action - and I mean meaningful interaction between the characters as much as anything else - and work a bit harder to give the supporting cast more definable personalities (never underestimate comedy accents traits such as Daniel's allergies, a speech impediment, or, yeah, huge boobs, to get people noticed).

In terms of the Eli-Chloe thing, the way they dealt with it in the finale was perfect. It was really low key - very true to life and it even seems possible that they might be able to draw a line under it for season two - especially if one of them dies...

Voted 'hate it'. This show is really teetering on the brink for me... if 'spaceship' shows were as plentiful as 'doctor' or 'lawyer' shows I'm sure I would've bailed by now.

The genre is really hurting right now.

^^
Just as soon as there's a comparable spaceship show on television, sure.

Meh. I don't hate the series, but considering the budget, and the experience the writers have had on the two previous series in the franchise, it's nowhere near as good as it should be. Most of the characters are awfully flat for a series that wants to be character-driven, which is a problem. Oh well. Let's see if season two can fix things.

I'll add my voice to the crowd who like this show. It's had a rocky start, and I'll definitely admit that it isn't perfect, but I like what they're trying to add to the franchise.

I wouldn't rate it higher than SG-1 (or at least the first 8 seasons :p), but it's hooked me better than Atlantis did, which I only started watching when there was no SG-1 left (having Atlantis do it's first run at the same time as SG-1 was continuing on made it subconciously more 'obvious' it was more of the 'not quite' same).

It needs more action, sure, not necessarily gunfights and the like, but something for the characters to react to, to show who/what they are, rather than trying to create situations in a vacuum, so to speak, against each other. Having the characters be defined purely by what they think of their predicament and what they do to each other makes it feel a bit...thin, I guess?

I like this show a lot. I like the tone and the pacing. I'd probably make a few minor adjustments, but nothing serious. I think they're doing a good job, and it looks great.

I have to admitt Lt Huge Boobs is laughable.

You leave Major Rack out of this! She's perfect.

:scream:

Why are you suppised the Stargate franchise has always been hated even by so called fans yet they all still tune in and after its finished can't wait to post on the net how bad it was.

I`m loving Stargate Universe! Anyone else? Easily better than Stargate Atlantis! So far I`m enjoying it more than Stargate the Orginal.:wtf::eek:

I loved Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. For years and years I couldn't wait until the next episode. I do not feel the same way about SGU :(

The second half-season has been watchable, and I actually enjoyed a couple of episodes, but unlike prior SG's, I'll never want to rewatch them or own them on DVD.

I hated nuBSG, so my chances of liking SGU were slim from the get-go
