OMG, computers and cell phones!

It's not that crazy, actually. I was doing tech support ten years ago (so it's 1. ten years ago and 2. just tech support) and I had 3 monitors. Ok I was playing CounterStrike on one and browsing the Internet on the other so I only really needed 1 to actually work but still...

Plenty of people used multiple monitors back then. Just not in the ridiculous multitasking 3D cube interface that bears no resemblance to Microsoft Visual C++ 6, which is what I was using at the time to do my job.

Or the fact that it seemed like you could code an entire program or something or hack a program to do something in a matter of minutes and it worked flawlessly!

I always think of Zach Morris' Gigantic Home Cordless Phone on Saved by the Bell...we had one of those when I was young and it felt like space-age technology for 1992!

That huge cellphone always cracks me up.

"I've got a huge phone I can carry around in my pants! And it gets really, really, really fair reception!"

I'm just glad computers are starting to be used somewhat realistically in movies and TV shows, now that most people have some understanding of what they can and can't do. The days of "magic computer" are over!!

I disagree. All the time on shows and in the movies, you will see characters doing video chat video IM, and it is full screen crystal clear and at a frame rate that looks as good as my HDTV. Magical indeed! They can frequently do lots of things with just a couple of clicks that would definitely take a bit longer to get through with a real computer.

Look at 24 and cell phones. Those phone batteries last all day long!

Speaking of "24" remember using a cellphone to trigger a bomb off while Bauer was in the air ducts.

Or reaching with their final breath to press enter to activate that special code.

I was just thinking that Jurassic Park scene before I scrolled to your post!

that line, followed by the three dimensional (?!?!) search for the file in the computer is soo ridiculous, even for the early 90's.

Can you imagine trying to actually use that OS?

See The Lawnmower Man.

Apparently, the ultimate form of Operating System is one in which you have to physically navigate a 3D environment looking for your Document folder. I want to open my resume, not play Halo.

I would love a TRON scenario for navigating folders

"You must light bike race me to access your pictures directory!"
