Oliver Harper's Review of A New Hope

I haven't seen this posted in this section; searches reveal nothing. Too, I'm avoiding this section because I have yet to see the new Star Wars film....;)

Ollie Harper is supposed to be doing Empire Strikes Back soon.

I gotta correct you on one thing: this video isn't a review. It's a retrospective of the production.

Very true.

I'm so used to saying 'review' (especially when I post Harper's videos)....

Let me know what you think, Maurice.

Well, had I not been following the history of the making of these movies since they first came out I suppose it would be informative, but I knew pretty much everything he says, and he misses some actual history. To someone who's not as steeped (in my case, marinaded) in this stuff, I'm sure there's lots of new stuff here.

My problem with most of his videos is he tries to cover too much... everything and the kitchen sink, with results that are a mile wide and maybe two inches deep. ;)

Oh, yeah. I'm sure he's missed a couple of things...and yes, much of what he's covered has been covered before (e.g. one of the reasons I wanted to get into filmmaking was the constant rewatch, growing up, those 'making of' documentaries for Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back).

What I like about Harper's videos, at least, the ones that catch my eye, is the usage of soundtrack music. He's used John Williams' score in the Superman: The Movie restrospect as he did with this one; A New Hope.

It just brings a cool sense of nostalgia for me. And based on what I'm seeing of A Force Awakens...I'm going to relive some of that nostalgia.
