old movie posters with the JJ crew

Why is Nuhura in the TWOK poster? Shouldn't that be some bikini-clad Saavik wannabe?
Saavik wasn't wearing a bikini in the original, and you're getting more than a little one-note in your commentary.

Abrams & Co. haven't made the movies you wanted (or the ones you would have made, had you found yourself in charge); everyone has received that message, loud and clear (and over and over, ad infinitum.) If all you have to offer is repetitive drive-by snark, perhaps it would be best for all if you simply moved on to a different subject.

Cool covers! There are a lot of artists working for the most recent comics, many of which are fans. I like they release more variant covers too.

Wonder if there will be V and VI?(as theres only 4 issues) Anyway what's the deal with Manifest Destiny and these covers? Do they cover elements of the original movies?

That artwork is marvelous. :D :techman:

I think the problem is they're just so over-designed. And there's just too much red. Even the Red Surge does more to break up the constant sea of red. When there are a bunch of Mounties standing together, the shoulder straps and hats really make a big difference.

Exactly this. They're way over-designed for standard duty. They'd make okay 'dress uniforms', but when you're just Captain Joe Schmoe on a mission to catalogue random flotsam on the border of the neutral zone, having all that "bling" attached to your uniform feels pretentious. The Starfleet Delta belt buckles in particular feel like to me a step too far.

The vests we see in later films would be a good compromise, I think. Wear the jacket for formal occasions, but for standard shipboard duty, wear the vest.

"Later films?" The vest was first seen in TWOK, which is also when those uniforms were first introduced.

Depends on the vest. The one Kirk wears in Generations was different than the ones they were wearing under the parkas in TWOK. And Scotty's vest in TFF was different still.
