Oyin Oladejo had been just about ready to give up acting for good, but then decided to do “one last audition.” Several...

I like this woman,Oladejo is a very beautiful girl, and had a strong voice on her scenes.
Everything on her, show bravery and dignity.
Not to mention her beautiful hair style.
I would love to see more of her character.

Yeah.
The karma of an actor ... but to do StarTrek is not preciselly "start from the bottom", I think.
I hope to see more from her, more of Owosekum, more of Oyin herself, not only on Discovery, as in other acting works.

The supporting cast were criminally underused in season 1. I hope they get a lot more to do going forward.
See I think this is where people are wrong. The bridge crew weren't supporting cast. They were the bridge crew. The supporting cast/characters were Tilly, Tyler, L'Rell, Saru, etc with the stars being Burnham and Lorca. So many are used to the bridge crew being the focus on the ship that I think some really couldn't accept that wasn't happen this time around.

They were pretty much the equivalent of the people in OPS on DS9 with a lot more consistency. The same people each episode but not the focus and that was okay. I have to wonder if DS9 was airing for the first time now would people be complaining about those crew members not getting a focus (assuming the same people were there week to week) but it instead it going to Bashier, Odo, etc who were no where near the command center/bridge of the station.

Now I'm not saying I'm not happy they're going to be given more to do going forward. We're down on characters now. Having them appear in each episode gave a nice bit of continuity and consistency to the show. It always annoyed me in other shows where the background characters changed week to week. Not even rotated but just one time and then gone. So if someone breaks out to be a bigger character that's going to be good . I just never understood the complaining regarding them during season 1 when it was clear who the main and secondary characters were.

The only issue I had was with Detmer who was a bigger character then the other bridge staff because of her history with Michael and Saru. She was there in episode 1 along with them. I wanted more interaction between her and Michael and Saru. I still hope we get that in season 2 and beyond. That's the only part where I feel they dropped the ball with the bridge staff.

The Season 2 trailer certainly showed more interaction with the rest of the bridge crew, but trailers are just select scenes, not an accurate representation.

Seems to me the Short Treks would be the perfect platform for fleshing out the bridge crew. I hope this is what we see going forward.

BTW, how's everyone pronouncing "Owesekun"? Seems to me Lorca pronounced it "o-WE-SH-kun". Don't know if that's correct though as there's no "h" in the name.
