Okay, SINGLE Trek film you could not live without.

The Final Frontier. It's a difficult pick, but when I think of which film I've watched the most and am most likely to put on if I want a Trek film, it's still that. But FC, GEN, and TWOK are very close behind.

Insurrection, Generations and TFF. All three are at the bottom of my list for Star Trek films, lol.

The Undiscovered Country. It's dark but optimistic, has great characters and the best incarnation of the Klingons ever and it's the ending the original Trek deserved.

It's difficult for me to choose between TWOK and FC. They're dramatically different films and I have a hard time choosing one as "better" than the other. ST '09 could become a good contender, over time, but I've only seen it twice and it hasn't had ample time to age. I can't be certain if it'll come out on top.

TWOK or FC. In a pinch, I'd probably go with the earlier film, but it's hard to say. Both are strong entries into the canon of space opera.

Oh, this is a terrible choice to have to make! Personally, I could live without them although I'd be severely, severely depressed!

However, since we're working from a theoretical, I would have to say "Star Trek XI". I have been itching like a crack addict stuck without his fix waiting for this movie to come out on Blu-ray. All the previous movies, I was able to wait quite patiently. Not this time.

J.
I feel the same way!

Hard to choose between TWoK and TUC. I prefer TUC as a film but if I only could have one, it'd be TWoK because of a few scenes.

First Contact with The Undiscovered Country in second place. Both are the only Trek films I re-watch on a really regular basis.

"Generations"; despite the flaws people bring up, it's the movie most true to it's characters and feel of the series it was spawned from. And the messages of life and death are very touching

TMP held true to the plot ideas of TOS, but dragged it out way too long, and ultimately wasn't worth of a movie, but rather a TV movie.

TWoK is the best TOS film, I think, but in the end it's really an action piece.

TSFS is basically a sequel to TWoK, so it doesn't count.

TVH is nothing more than fun.

TFF gets a really bad wrap, and I think it is one of the better TOS films, but in the end it doesn't reach the heights needed to be a "not live without".

TUC has good messages of how enemies can become friends and how times change, and even good people can have bad in them, but right now it is more a product of it's time, as our current generation and the one before didn't live through he real life events it mirrored and therefore don't fully grasp it.

First Contact was garbage. They basically took what could have been a great idea, and fucked it up best they could. Jerry & Joel Goldsmith were the only saving graces.

Insurrection tried to get back to hte TNG ideals, but ultimately failed.

Nemesis was so fucking bad, it's embaressing. They should have litterally disowned that and tried again. Terrible, really fucking terrible the TNG crew didn't get a proper movie send off.

GENERATIONS. I love this movie and being that it has TNG cast PLUS Kirk it would be the one i couldn't live without.
