Okay..IT SUCKED!

Have you ever seen the preview of a movie, or knew of a movie coming out, and you told your friends "This movie is gonna kick ass---it's gonna be great" then you go see it..with your friends in tow...and it sucks. And they all look at you, and blame you for wasting their time, getting them all UP for this movie...and it sucked....you were wrong!

For me? Yes...
Star Trek Nemesis..I totally bought into that crap they were shoveling before that awful movie came out...I still hear it from the peanut gallery

GODZILLA 1998--I told my friends this movie would be the greatest action, kick ass movie of all time...WRONG...talk about a limp noodle

Alien Resurrection--Oye, I still have headaches from that movie sucking so bad and getting pummled for it by my friends...

There are probably more, but I have blocked them out of my mind due to the "beatings" I got from Nemesis...wink wink..

X-Men 3 maybe. I didn't hate it, but I was SO excited for it, and alas it weren't all that great.
It's just waaaaaaaaay too damn short, every scene is about 10 seconds long

Yeah..I agree with you on X3

Spidey-3 got my friend in trouble..he had seen it, and said it was better than 2, and better than Xmen 2 (which I think is a great movie)...so we go and see Spidey 3...needless to say, it wasn't even much better than those idiotic batman movies from the 90s....we made him buy us breakfast at Dennys after we got out of the theatre around 1am

The second Matrix movie (reloaded, restarted or whatever the hell it was called). I absolutely loved the first movie, was very ecstatic to see the second one only to be extremely disapointed by this confusing mess of a movie. I didn't even bother to see the third one in cinema, saw bits and parts on TV and didn't like what I've seen.

I hate to say it, but Indy 4 - I really, really wanted to love it, but it was just kindof a mess. It wasn't overtly awful, and I guess I enjoyed myself - but it didn't really feel all that Indy-esque in the end. I don't know ... digital gophers in an Indy film? No thanks.

I LOVED X-men 2, and even though we lost Singer for 3, I was super excited for it. I *HATED* it, and walked out of the theater pissed off.

The only movie where I've had that experience was "Dungeons & Dragons." But it was EXACTLY as you said.

Rob Zombie's Halloween. If it was half as good as the trailer for it made it look it'd be watchable. I almost left the theater. But after paying nearly 10 dollars to see it I gutted it out.

Off the top of my head...

Alien Resurrection
Godzilla (1998)
Lost In Space
Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions

I'm not sure if Star Wars: The Phantom Menace belongs in this list or not. It wasn't nearly as bad as any of the ones above, but it was a horrible disappointment.

Spider-Man 3
I knew X3 was going to suck.
Most recently, Vantage Point. It's like they had a script for the best trailer ever, and then made everything else up as they went along.

Pirates II. Thankfully I had not told anyone else how awesome I thought it would be.

I also was severely disappointed in the Matrix sequels. The second one I hoped suffered from middle-chapter-syndrome so I managed to get good and excited for the 3rd. I should have quit while I was ahead.

I felt really let down after seeing LOTR: ROTK-the theatrical edition anyway. I was really built up for the grand finale after enjoying the previous two movies and seeing how everything in the story was going to look on film. The editing of the theatrical version of ROTK was just so............off for some strange reason. Although the extended editions of the other movies were mostly just "icing" and the theatrical versions felt complete enough as they were, the extended version of ROTK is absolutely the only version of the movie I care to watch as Peter Jackson simply did a god-awful job of editing the movie for the theater and I left the theater feeling utterly disappointed-for a LOTR movie. I can't remember all of the scenes but, for example, the theatrical edition completely left off Saruman and Wormtongue's deaths, which seemed like a pretty mandatory scene for a film seeking to do a good adaptation of LOTR IMHO. I know they changed the place and nature of their deaths from the books but completely removing that scene, particularly when both were prominent villians in the prior movie seems totally wierd. I believe that the theatrical edition also didn't show the Mouth of Sauron and I believe that there was more Witch King and the Ghost Army scenes in the extended edition, most of which were pretty important parts of the book, as was the scenes of Sam and Frodo disguising themselves as orcs to travel through Mordor.

Godzilla 98
Batman and Robin
Lost in Space
Battlefield Earth

Scrooge..I have never seen BattleField Earth..is it as bad as they say? Are there even any good FX scenes???

Rob
It's as bad as they say and there are no good FX scenes.
Watch only with a Rifftrax commentary.
Seconded. The only justification for the existence of the Battlefield Earth movie is the hysterical Rifftrax. :guffaw: I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. If you can, watch it with likeminded friends. My friends and I were having to pause for recovery periods and bathroom breaks throughout. :D

Downloadable "podcast" commentaries by the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 where they "riff" on movies (a'la MST3k).

"The Strangers" from earlier this year.

I haven't been REALLY scared by a film in decades and from the preview, this looked like a real "fuck with your mind" type of experience.

What I got was two dumb arses who deserved what they got and a series of jumps that were the equivalent of the "cat jumping into frame" scene from old horor films.

Case in point: At one point you ask yourself, "How are these bagheads getting into this house?" Then they show the side sliding glass door has been open the whole time. I was like, "Well, you fucktards DESERVE to die now!!!!"

I HATE when filmmakers make characters really stupid to advance the plot.

Anyway, I chose to enjoy it on a purely visceral "roller coaster" type of level and as THAT it worked.

COMPLETELY SUCKED:

Alien 3
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The Matrix Reloaded

KINDA SUCKED BUT AREN'T AS BAD AS THEY FIRST SEEMED:

Star Trek: Nemesis
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Spider-Man 2 (yes, I mean 2... not 3)
