Well, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. Overall, I think the exploration of older aliens and the introduction of new ones are quite balanced. And the Suliban will play a role over the course of the series.
Don't expect too much from the Klingons. They're rather TNG/DS9 standard as far as I can recall.

I like the show much better now than I did when it originally aired. Maybe a little time away from Trek helped, or it's just that much better than I originally thought. Season two is by far the worst of the bunch, but season 3 and 4 make up for it. Season one struggles a bit, but if you put it up against the first season of TNG, I think ENT season one comes out on top.
Archer is a might strange character. I really want to like the guy, and that goes in large part to Scott Bakula's personality, but some of the decisions Archer makes are unprofessional and completely beyond reason. A Night in Sickbay is a good example of this. On the other hand, Phlox, Trip, and Shran great characters that fit well in the Trek universe.

I'm in the middle of Season 3 now, and I think you're right. After some time away, coming back to the series I'm seeing things a bit differently than at first.

Some things haven't changed, though. "A Night in Sickbay" and "Extinction" are actually WORSE than I remember!

Okay, I finished the Deason One box, and I'm not done with it yet! That's a good sign. Only a handful of clunkers, in my opinion. Again, "Acquisition" being the worst, and "Silent But Deadly."

I've finally got round to watching season 4 (£13 from Amazon) having semi-enjoyed the first 3 seasons, and quite frankly it was fantastic. There is what, 2 or 3 filler episodes?

If that had been the 1st season, it would have been an amazing series and I just feel immense frustration that all the potential storylines with the coalition and the romulan threat (among others) have been lost.

I'm finishing up season 7 of TNG on DVD. It just hit me that there is a major absense of Vulcans in TNG. I guess that is something that ENT has over TNG.

Yeah, I never paid attention first time I watched it (when I was, like, 7-14 or whatever) but I'm currently rewatching the entire lot and the absence of Vulcans is almost conspicuous. It seems they were trying way, waaaayy too hard to distinguish themselves from TOS. Sad really :< I mean I know they've got Data, who is sorta like Spock's backwards inbred little cousin, but every series needs some good vulcans! That's one of the things that's awesome about ENT

That was GR's Doing he had wanted TNG to be 200 years after TOS NOT the 78 yrears they went with if TNG went 100% with GR wanted you have HAD NO RACES FROM TOS except Humans.
