Ok. What is the chance of a Picard spinoff?

I also can't see them not making Seven the main face of Legacy when it comes to promoting the series. And it would be strange to have all these live-action captains as the faces of their series, and then Jack.
That Jack is in Starfleet bothers me. There's no resolution there with his former life. He's just brought onboard, saved, causes a ruckus and then accepted without issue. Making him the face of the Legacy series would be a major oddness for such a character to be the face of it.

That would be a helluva thing if they did Legacy but gave Seven a Lorca type supporting role. Yeah, she gets to be Captain but she’s a secondary character that you won’t necessarily see in every episode.

I can’t imagine that would go over to well.

Fans couldn't wrap their heads around it then. Not sure that's changed.

Didn't you know every person whose parents or mentors were in Starfleet automatically have no other dream than to also join? Starfleet is the only dream in the whole Federation.

Looking forward to Legacy where we find out that Jake and Alexander also joined at some point as well.

Seven will be in it. The Captain would have to be in every episode while the show is on the Enterprise. Jack will just be the perspective character and narrative focus. The one on trial.

He's also the easiest way for new viewers to jump in. Most of Seven's backstory, arc and development is behind her.

Yup. Starfleet is the only way.

The only career choice. The only way.

The whole crew for Legacy will be nothing but Starfleet nepo kids. Jack, Sidney, Alandra, Kestra, Alexander, Elnor, Raffi's son, Naomi Wildman, Miral Paris, both O'Brien children, Jake, the other Sisko kid. Wesley somehow. We'll find out Bashir, Kira, and Ezri all also have kids that are now in Starfleet. Kestra will recreate Thad on the Holodeck and he'll be part of the crew as well. Raffi's granddaughter will fall in that time hole thing Molly O'Brien fell in and will stay older and join too.

Every episode is them going somewhere in the galaxy to meet up with whatever parents are coming on the ship this week. Janeway counts as Seven's parent so we can get her on the ship to visit as well.

What about Mura, Esma, and Dr. Ohk?

The ship allows four non-nepo kids spots, so them and Raffi are safe. But they're the only ones.

Also, I forgot Soji (just like the show did). She'll obviously be on the ship as well.

Someone has to take T'Veen's place. :shifty:

It bothers me because there was no progression on how he got there. He said earlier in the season Starfleet wasn't for him and he wanted to do his own thing - and then suddenly without reason he's an ensign one year later.

One of the things I really love about PIC S1 was that it was the first Star Trek production to be told from a non-Starfleet, non-institutionalist point of view. Its detractors don't often use those words, but I think that's one of the things they couldn't stand about it. They want everything to be told from a pro-Starfleet, pro-institutionalism point of view.

It's similar to how Burnham was the lead of Discovery when she was not the Captain.

Jack is "Star Trek: Legacy" Picard S3 literally ends with Q setting up the spinoff as Jack's trial.

No doubt Seven will play a significant part (Jeri and Terry have been close friends for decades), however this may not be the Enterprise series some assume it is. It's going to follow Jack and the next, next generation...wherever they end up. New ships, new crews etc.

Seven has already going through the arc of self-discovery. Heck, Pic S3 was about her finding her new family and she did. While there is more for her ahead the most compelling stuff is done, she's gone from a damaged, traumatized individual to fully realized and healed.

And why wouldn't Starfleet embrace her? She saved them all. Even Raffi is being praised as a hero. If anything Starfleet may have bigger issues with Jack ahead and his involvement with the Frontier Day incident. Whether he may still be compromised. Similar challenges to what Picard faced post-Locutus (we saw this in First Contact).

Burnham was the lead, but Burnham didn't start out as a junior officer under a popular established Trek character. Outside of her family connections, Burnham and most of the Discovery crew were brand new characters.

I don't see Seven's arc as finished as you do. There's still a lot to go there, and I don't think she's reconciled her humanity and Borg halves. I also wonder if lingering bias against the xBs, which I could see being revived after the Frontier Day disaster, would affect Seven. It was only a few years ago that Seven plugged into the Artifact and became a de facto Borg Queen. So, I see some people in the Fleet not warming to her, just like Sisko and Shaw, even decades later, didn't warm to Picard. And Picard had no outward physical signs that he had been part of the Borg like Seven does. How might that trigger trauma and anxiety in some crew members or citizens? Picard also saved Earth/Federation countless times and that still didn't erase all the distrust over his assimilation, and it also didn't shield him from being unceremoniously dismissed from Starfleet.

I could see Jack also facing the same level of distrust that Picard and Seven have (more so even as he was became the Borg's voice), and he has zero record of Starfleet service to fall back on. I see Seven being the lead, but space made, of course, for Jack to have his journey. Making the series about Jack could easily devolve into him being a wunderkind that solves everything all the time with zero to little personal growth or stakes. They'll have him rely on a wink, nod, and quip, and off to next week's adventure. I hope they don't make things too easy for him if he's the lead, but I could see that being the temptation. Seven, owing to her Trek history, and her struggles, feels like a more compelling lead to me than Jack. Arguably, Jack's arc is over too. He's found the family he's longed for, and he's also saved Earth to boot, and he's not even thirty yet.

To be honest the "Ship of Nepotism" would be an amusing idea, and a good way for people to not blow the entire ship up every week.

Her as a leader to the crew, a mother of sorts, will probably be her next arc if anything.

There were signs of that in Season 3.

That scene where Jack took on Vadic and Seven stood beside him in support... I knew from that scene they were telegraphing the potential dynamic for the spinoff.

Those two will indeed have the most to work with, and luckily Ed Speelers and Jeri Ryan have great chemistry. The scene in 3x06 between them was wonderful.
