OGAM, where are you?

How about including my entire post in your quote. You are taking a small section of my post and taking it out of context.

No. It wasn't important. Nothing in the remainder of your post made your assertion about what is and isn't official continuity/"canon" any less wrong.

I am sure it is ready since April but they ruined it trying to find a way to make money from it. They are still trying to do this - this far unsuccessfully though ...

Hmmm...

I am pretty sure I answered that question in my lat post. Not sure who you are, but I know that you are nowher near involved in this film because if you were or had contacts to someone who is than you would never have said such a thing because it simply isn't true. Now, as for Fleetlord... He is indeed part of the crew and knows the details behind what I am saying.

I would be interested in having you share your source for such information if you are willing?

Well posts like those give a slap in the face to the people that at putting alot of there volunteer effort into getting this film done, this summer has been very busy and there is still a ton going on to get this out to the public.

Hey, I applaud all of you doing fan films it gives the Star Trek fans on the net something new to watch and discuss.
OGAM however deserved or not seems to have gotten a bad reputation with the fans. The now infamous Tim Russ interview, and a long delayed premiere seems to have turned a lot of fans off to the project. Unfortunity guys it is hard to turn a bad reputation like this around. It seems no matter how much you say Mr. Russ was misquoted and Part 1 is just around the corner, most fans on the net will not believe you. The only way OGAM is going to turn all this bad reaction on the Trek forms around is to Show the first part and have it knock every ones socks off.
Until you do this the naysayers will keep bad mouthing this project. I hope OGAM is a big success but with all the negative feeling now, you have an up hill battle.

The fact that Sky Conway (whoever the f&ck he is and who cares anyway) produced this fan production has had cynical "fans" talking shit about this production from day one is the biggest slap in the face to anyone involved who has put their time and energy into this project. The cynics will hate and find any excuse to hate. Yet another reason I find fandom contemptible. It is this kind of fandom Trek can certainly do without.

There's no way CBS/Paramount is going to let them make 1 penny from that project. As soon as they do, it will have the effect of making it canon.

No it won't. The two things have nothing to do with one another either practically or conceptually.

Paramount's made quite a bit of coin from the "Star Trek" animated series without treating it as canon.

Fandom has treated it as canon almost since it's inception, and many quotes from that have indeed found their way into canon. Anything with the CBS logo and Star Trek stamped on it will effectively be canon. Excepting the known non-canons like games, comics, and novels.

So you add a new non-canon category for independent productions. At the end of the day, canon is what CBS wants it to be. They can make a new show that contradicts OGAM regardless of if they made any money from it.

People are cynical about Doug "Sky" Conway because he has twice run fraudulent swindles that specifically targed science fiction fans. He bilked investors and sci-fi fans out of millions of dollars in his "Galaxyonline" swindle a few years back and was even banned from being involved in any kind of investment activity in the state of California by financial regulators. And his "Icons" replica company similarly took a lot of money from sci-fi fans and then shut down, never repaying a cent.

The guy is basically a crook who has made a living on the fringes of the sci-fi community latching onto whatever he can. So lots of fans smelled a rat when he suddenly appeared as a major figure in the fanfilm community.

Thus the cynicism. And the endless delays as well as the Tim Russ interview suggest that Conway is, indeed, trying to milk OGAM for some type of personal profit.

I'll watch it when its released. Until then, I can't say I really give a flying damn how long it takes. Other things are more important at the moment.
