Plot nitpicks or otherwise, at face value, I still loved the setup and attack scene and in all its cinematic 2.35:1 glory. They shouldn't have deleted the Soran/Geordi torture scene since it added needed context as well.

(not the whole scene, as the bit where 1701-D glides into orbit isn't shown - a pity, as it's bloody awesome.)

(okay, that's the bit I was hoping to find. Remember kids, be sure to drink lots of coffee before they belch out the exposition!)

Not since Khan was there such a great and magnetic adversary, and arguably not since.

(I Khan't be finding these clips so easily., but it's the one feature starring a boatload of Chip'n'Dale strippers that is entertainment for the whole family..)

So looking forward to 4k - NEM, like GEN, isn't perfect - but it's not without a share of great moments. Never mind the plot, which still had potential, the tone of that scene is as utterly perfect as the accompanying music. How long was it since Trek kept humor minimal and went for adventure steeped in suspense instead? And if that's CGI, I'm bowled over. It's utterly stunning.

Some good points were raised, though a couple we noticed on day one or had heard at one point... Still, it's a great and refreshing presentation. Oh, various clips also feature a brief clip showing 60s aesthetics for flashing lights. Nice touch. But the presentation also reminds why numerous bits of dialogue were removed, despite some of the same lines explaining some other things. (But Spock was captain, and Kirk - thinking Spock might have an ego, decided to keep his proverbial pants down with that lengthy discussion, because that's part of the movie's theme: Kirk growing old and still being rusty .)
