CANON TRAILS TO YOU...

UNTIL...WE...MEET...AGAIN

Canon trails...to you

Keep nerding until thennnnn...

You know, you could let this drop any time you want to whether he replies or not.

As long as the discussion is ongoing I shall add my input, as valid as anyone elses!
All the way back here, I said this to you:

You replied:

Of course, that isn't what you've done at all. You've come back again

and again

I point out the irony of your hypocrisy! Stop replying and you wont be replied to any further!

and rejected all attempts by other posters to discuss your original post, offering only insults and taunting in return. I can draw only one conclusion from this:

Not only do I not get the impression you were seriously interested in discussing the topic you brought, I think you may have been looking to start a fight in the first place.

Whatever your initial intent may have been, the constant string of taunting, insults and baiting which followed (and which I've quoted above) are going to earn you a warning for disrupting the thread. I strongly suggest you quit now, while you're well behind.

I further suggest that everyone refrain from any further responses to xan; he's not the least bit interested in talking to you -- only at you.

We are done with this issue.

As long as you keep replying I shall do the same, unless of course what you are saying is "Shut up, I want the last word", in which case, bad luck.

Re: Kirk and the Corvette

I was surprised when young Kirk was driving a Corvette in the trailer. I’d figure, from the Nexus in Generations, Kirk would be riding a horse. I guess Abrams wants to make Kirk into a sort of Luke Skywalker. Though it would be cruel if Kirk’s horse ended off the cliff, so it’s better off showing him driving the Corvette.

A teenage kid would be more likely to steal a car and go on a wild ride, than they would a horse. That is assuming he stole the car. A car also makes for a better chase scene than a horse.

Just so everyone knows, it also plays in front of The Day The Earth Stood Still(Which was very good and very true to the original), at least here.

I remained silent on purpose to gauge the audience reaction which was a varied age/background audience from the looks of it.

I heard three hoots during, once when people realized it was Trek(My name is James Tiberious Kirk!) again at the sight of the Enterprise, and then at the end with the theme chimes and logo.

Older couple next to us seemed to get excited aswell.

Also the theatre was featuring four of the "Face" posters(the grey and black ones), Kirk, Spock, Uhura and Nero.

Oooooh I like this ship, it's exciting! *squeels with glee*

I saw it in front of an IMAX presentation of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Unfortunately, after stepping through a hi-res version of the trailer frame-by-frame on my widescreen display, seeing a forty-foot tall version of Sylar-Spock brought nothing to the experience. And no Nimoy-Spock at the end.

It was so awesome. And the one with Nimoy on the end is badly paced anyways, bleh.

I agree. I loved seeing Nimoy in it, but moving Nero's line to the middle felt like it screwed it up.

Probably why it was an online release, mainly for hardcore fans.
We all love seeing Nimoy in it, but in the setting of the trailer it
just threw things off a bit.

^All the Nimoy clip is really "guilty" of is a slight drop of intensity, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at the very end. But with the Nero clip being moved to the middle, it was kind of like everything slams to a stop, and then starts racing again. To be honest, I think that the only change they should have made was just switch the Nero clip for the Nimoy clip.

Of course, they probably took that bridge clip out so they could make their duct tape disappear. ;)

That still would have screwed with it. They did right in NOT focusing on Nimoy and showing the crew, the villian, the action and so on.

All it's guilty of is exactly what I get from watching it, poor pacing in general, Nimoys presence in the ad ends up feeling contrived. The first was fine how it is.

To date I haven't seen any teaser posters for the movie at my local theaters, but then I don't expect the local Carmikes to do so until at least next month. These are the guys who almost precisely ten years ago didn't put the original EPISODE I teaser posters out in the lobbies until a month later than most others because they got the wrong word and date for releasing them.

My local theater has all the crew posters up together going down the entrance hallway. It was very cool looking.

Just saw it the trailer. It looks like your typical blockbuster movie trailer, not that this is a bad thing. Some nice character shots and externals. The young kirk part seemed odd, though not as odd as the Uhura taking her shirt off. Sort of disappointed that her contribution to the trailer is, "Look I'm in a bra!" Would have been cool to have lines from all the main character and every a shot or line from Nimoy.

Bana's character sounds weird. Not sure what accent he was going for but his line at the end kind of lost impact due to the odd way he said it. Might just be me projecting on Bana since I'm still pretty use to his Aussie accent after years on TV over here (he was one of my favs on Full Frontal behind my all time fav Shaun Micallef).

Also would have liked if the trailer actually showed that the movie was about. The trailer makes it pretty vague exactly what is meant to be going on.

All in all, visually it is a beautiful trailer and it does shout blockbuster. I think in terms of getting non-Trekkies to think about seeing it the trailer is good. I might get some of my non-fan friends to look at it and get their impressions.

By your review it did pretty much everything right.

Uhura taking her top off... eh she looks better with it on.
Typical blockbuster trailer... we kinda need that feel at least at first.

And I like that it didn't reveal alot of the story.
So many trailers now are like watching a mini movie before you see it.
I am a big trailer enthusiast but I see why they would be vague.

There is actually an alternate internet only version that shows Spock.
It doesn't seem as well paced but it's a nice enough nod to the fans.
