Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Go back a little further... you will find nothing but "Jean" and "Gene" arguments and cyber bullying...

Go back to the Pleistocene era and you will find Woolly Mammoths, but there are Elephants now.

Yes, yes, yes, you were gravely wronged, but subsequent to that there was an apology and additional argument. In internet time, those posts are ancient history. Psion has moved beyond that. Please do the same.

I point out the irony of your hypocrisy! Stop replying and you wont be replied to any further!

You know, you could let this drop any time you want to whether he replies or not.

As long as the discussion is ongoing I shall add my input, as valid as anyone elses!
And a wise man once said "It is better to remain quiet and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

I also like "Never enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent."

And you long ago too this from Discussion to Martyr complex. Nobody is bullying you... So just stop already.

All the way back here, I said this to you:

You repeatedly seem to be proving what I have written to be perfectly correct and true to my observations.

It is indeed petty.

Rise above it.
I said we're done with that now. Please drop it. Or rise above it. Your choice.

You replied:

...

I shan't bother with my input in the future in this thread, and instead just watch others argue their points out like children.
Of course, that isn't what you've done at all. You've come back again
The only reply I seem to have had is aggression, and "JR, not GR"

Doesn't seem like a discussion forum to me, rather a place for cyber bullying.
and again
My goodness.

You really do have a chip on your shoulder.
and again
You do seem a bit of a cyber bully.
and again
I was offered no critique, just nit picking at spelling...

and rejected all attempts by other posters to discuss your original post, offering only insults and taunting in return. I can draw only one conclusion from this:

Not only do I not get the impression you were seriously interested in discussing the topic you brought, I think you may have been looking to start a fight in the first place.

Whatever your initial intent may have been, the constant string of taunting, insults and baiting which followed (and which I've quoted above) are going to earn you a warning for disrupting the thread. I strongly suggest you quit now, while you're well behind.

I further suggest that everyone refrain from any further responses to xan; he's not the least bit interested in talking to you -- only at you.

We are done with this issue.

Awesome! Now let's get back to this nonsense about building the Enterprise on the ground instead of the perfectly rational orbital construction site ....

Uh oh ... I think I just heard the sound of Santa pouring coal into my Christmas stocking.

Okay, I am concerned a little...

I don't want to give the whole "The new Trek fillum will be shit!" crowd ammo, but this does trip a few alarms.

I heard about the whole "I was never a fan of Star Trek" thing and decided to look for a little more info, and stumbled across this quote:
When he signed on, Abrams did not realize they had already made 10 Star Trek films. He said that if he had realized that, he may not have taken on the job.
What?!!!

Why didn't he know about them? Why didn't he investigate the movie history? Why didn't anyone at Paramount think to tell him? As a film maker he should have had SOME idea of them, they were all pretty big events, and as they say, LA isn't that big a town.

Does he know what has gone before?

Yes. There are several interviews where he talks about how he would obviously have to catch up on it all(Series and movies alike). He has done his research. Just because he may not have known when signed on doesn't mean he didn't come to later.

Also, any chance you can post a link or something to your source?

So? Nick Meyer made two really good Trek films before he even realized that TNG and TOS were set 100 years apart (according to ST:The Magazine, Meyer was all set to have a handoff scene in TUC where Kirk turns over the Enterprise to Picard, before someone explained why that wouldn't work.)

Hmm, okay, if he's done the research since, it's okay. I should be more concerneed the writers have done the research.

I didn't read it too closely, as there may be more spoilers than I wanted to see.

Abrams: In describing the movie as a whole, Abrams said he "wanted to relate to it, wanted it to feel real." Unlike Star Wars, this isn't set in a galaxy far, far, away, it's instead "a version of our future."

Very nice.

As long as he has a few informed co-creators/writers, I have no problem with an outsider producing or directing a Star trek movie. In fact, for what its supposed to accomplish, this may work better for this movie.

RAMA

True, true.

And if anyone has issues with the script, then blame the writers, not Abrams. The writers are the Trekkies, and they know the franchise. Abrams does not have too, and in this situation, where new blood is needed, it might actually be a good thing.

But look, it was ANOTHER positive review. When practically every review of footage is glowing in praise, or atleast very optimistic, something correct was done.

Another positive note, is that is seems every review has a different set of actors it showers with praise. I think thats a good sign of the acting ability of these young actors, and indeed we will NOT be getting 90210 in space.

My buddy told me that this movie was the highlight of films he wanted to see. He is not a huge Trek fan but appreciates its vision and characters. He really liked the first trailer to the film, just construction shots, and said that he hopes it would be soemthing special. I finally showed him the new trailer last night. He went from being enthusiastic to simply waiting for it to come on video. He said its populated by too many "hunk" like actors for girls to swoon over.

Oh well.

People are starting to get over their aversion to this film.

Maybe it's just me, but the moaning seems to have died down.
