Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

My buddy told me that this movie was the highlight of films he wanted to see. He is not a huge Trek fan but appreciates its vision and characters. He really liked the first trailer to the film, just construction shots, and said that he hopes it would be soemthing special. I finally showed him the new trailer last night. He went from being enthusiastic to simply waiting for it to come on video. He said its populated by too many "hunk" like actors for girls to swoon over.

Oh well.

He doesnt want to see it becuase there are too many hot guys in it?:wtf:

Huh, thats a new one.

Re: People are starting to get over their aversion to this film.

Maybe it's just me, but the moaning seems to have died down.
I'm sure that if you dig around some of the threads here, you'll find that there's still a fair amount of moaning.

Since this is more a quick observation than a solid discussion topic of its own, why don't I move it over to the trailer discussion thread? Hang on...

WHOOOOAAMAGODD!!!:scream: *goes tumbling across deck*

:p These lil rides are fun.
I need to find that one shot from TOS of some redshirt going ass-over-tin-cup across the bridge during an attack -- can't recall which ep it's from. In the meantime...

This scene from "The Immunity Syndrome" jumps to mind (though this guy wears blue):

There's this one, with Kirk flying over his command chair:

Although my favorite is this one. What's Uhura doing there? The Funky Chicken?

Just when I thought I had seen everything, what episode is this clip from, who is that navigator? I don't recall ever having seen him, I'm flustered over not knowing who that is!

The cap is from the "slingshot around the sun" maneuver near the end of "Tomorrow Is Yesterday". I'd have to check on the identity of the navigator, (possibly Brent?) but it's not Leslie or Hadley.

Edit:

He's identified here only as "Bridge Crew 3" and "Navigator". Here are other screencaps from the episode, but you get a look at him in very few; he's mostly on the edge of the shot or out of frame. Neopeius is working on a project of identifying some of the background people seen in TOS episodes; maybe he'd have some idea.

Thanks for the plug :) Definitely not Brent. I'm just working on Courtmartial now, but I haven't seen that fellow before.

He's not one of the regular crew of redshirts, either -- probably just some guy they grabbed as a stand-in for the one shot -- you see his face for only about a second as the camera pans across.

Kirk and the Corvette

I was surprised when young Kirk was driving a Corvette in the trailer. I’d figure, from the Nexus in Generations, Kirk would be riding a horse. I guess Abrams wants to make Kirk into a sort of Luke Skywalker. Though it would be cruel if Kirk’s horse ended off the cliff, so it’s better off showing him driving the Corvette.

Since the "Kirk on a horse (just like in Generations!) or driving a Corvette" question was already raised and discussed at some length in the Trailer Discussion thread (starting right about here, I think) I'll move this on over.

Welp, I like him. This movie actually wasn't too bad. Had never seen it or Chris Pine in anything before. I think he'll make a good Kirk. :)
