58 minutes until we all get to see the HD version of the trailer! :techman:

(or the star trek film servers crash)

Re: Top Gun in space? Is Star Trek being dumbed down?

BTW, I think Enterprise101's blueprints are pretty cool, particularly considering that they were apparently drafted quite some time ago.

I can't quite make out the year - 1990, or 1993?

I agree and I wasn't commenting on the quality but there is a place for everything in this world and everything has its place.

Oh and Enterprise101, just as a heads up 2 things -
1) If that is your real name you may want to blur it for security sake.
2) Umm, the Enterprise, with one small exception ...cough NX-01 cough... is always NCC-1701, not NCC-1702.

Overall I liked the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if the motorcycle cop is really old Spock.

I'm thinking that while Quinto looks good as a young Spock that perhaps he looks too young for the time period he is in.

I'm hoping the space battle scenes have the slower feel rather than the fast fighter style, kind of hard to tell from the trailer the scenes were so short.

I think my biggest fear which will ruin the movie for me, at least on the big screen, is that the action scenes will be shot in the Bourne Supremacy/Quantum of Solace style of shaky cam tight fast shots. I have two problems with this, first it makes me motion sick! I can ride the best rollercoasters Six Flags Magic Mt. has to offer but this style of filming action makes me sick. I watched most of Bond with my eyes closed! :( The second problem is that things happen so fast and the scenes are so short I don't get a good feel for just what is happening, I don't get a sence of suspensfull build up/tension because it is over by the time I know what I'm seeing. The Trek scene were young Kirk is driving towards the cliff gives me that the buid up the other secens lack.

This is of course just my opinion and what I like, and can stomach!!! :)

He's actually about the same age as Nimoy when he first started playing the role (Nimoy was 33, Quinto is about 32).

Cheers Bro. But in the end I decided to make it 1702.A 'cause 1701.A was already taken, and I didn't want to settle for a "B" grade. It seemed rather cool too, in a unique way. Hope you weren't too offended though. :)

10 mins!!

My HD output to my plasma is all set lol

Bet it wont be exactly on time, and bet the servers will crash under the strain!

Over here in the UK its coming up to 6pm, so most people are just coming home from work ready to watch!

I know I know... I'm all set...

Sir.. it's the Enterprise!

:techman:

I wonder if they will put the website back to the old style with the darker colours and the delta coming out of it.. the end of the trailer seems to have that original design rather than the white website we have gotten used to over the past few months.
Personally I preferred the darker look.

It would also be nice to see that silver STAR TREK type on the site too.

Trailer me!

Re: Top Gun in space? Is Star Trek being dumbed down?

Negative bias? The fact that you're a "complete stranger" means I shouldn't have a problem with you virtually spamming the board with never-ending links to your drawings? The fact that you're a "complete stranger" gives you the right to do what you please on here?

As the above says, you're coming off as desparate. I'm not attacking your drawings, just saying it might be an idea to give it a rest now.
By the way, this is a Star Trek forum, people!

Yes it is... and if you would have a look around, there are appropriate boards for different things ...DS9 boards for DS9 discussions, TREK Literature board for postings on the novels AND TREK Art for posts like yours. That is the board where many of us with artistic inclinations go to post and view fan art.

So while it is a TREK Board, there are rules and guidelines so that it can operate as a community.
Ease up. I'm still a junior to all this modern-web-navigation-overload stuff, particulaly here. At least give me a chance to sort it all out. However, with what I have copped so far from doing this, and wanting to be here, I don't really know yet if these things are a good thing or not?
