Official synopsis for Ready Player Two

I´m one of those, who liked the movie better, but I know there is a lot of opposite cases.

Haven't read the book Ready Player One is based on but i love the movie to death - it's fun and extra fun for people immersed in pop culture.

However this synopsis for the second book sounds awful as it basically repeats the plot of the first one - bad move if it's really like that (and i highly doubt Spielberg will return to direct a rehash of a story).

I loved the de facto crossovers... the Iron Giant and a Gundam take on MechaGodzilla? That’s a movie all by itself.

Or brain interface that allows uploading to the game world. I sort of got the implication the Halliday seen at the end of the movie version was more than just a NPC of him. Given the crapsack status of the future in the book and movie, it could be seen as a far better alternative.

I mean, a sequel that's just a rehash of the original with higher stakes is pretty on brand for a 70's/80's nostalgia fuelled IP.

Put me down as preferring the movie over the book. Yeah, the brevity made some things a little more contrived (like how everyone turned out to be within driving distance of each other instead of spread all over the world) but it also made the plot more focused, and the references were more my speed. I get the impression the author was a good decade older than me so a bunch of the early arcade and magical Japanese robot references were lost on me.

Cline is on the air on Coast-to-CoastAM as I write this.

He talks about being separated from his family by a twister. I also have an interest I severe weather.

Between him, Spielberg and Musk...it feels as if others have lived my life’s dreams betting than I ever could.

I’m cool with that.

Well, read it. It’s... on brand. Bigger stakes, but the same tics as the original. A lot of people are gonna hate it. Only one Trek reference that I recall, but to be fair, it’s a big one.

It’s maybe not as much fun as the original, it’s got heavy references but much less of them this time I would say. It’s a bit tick box, both in plot elements and sort of in how it addresses real world politicking to an extent.

It is very much an eighties/nineties style sequel. Mainly nineties I would say. There’s a sort of ghostbusters two feel to the first half ‘and then things when to crap, get the band back together new threat’ but it picks up at about forty percent in.

It’s good to be honest, if not great. Cline does what cline does, and to expect different would be silly. I like that he’s part of this kinda new wave geek made good thing happening in literature.
