Sooo close to $250 million....can we do it? It's a holiday here today btw, so dunno if that helps.
I mean, Paramount wants to maximize profits, don't they?

I am sure they do. They are not pulling the movie from theaters, it's the theaters themselves that have to drop some movies since they are committed to some of the newer movies. In some cases Trek is moving to a another theater (like in the Hollywood area), so Paramount is booking it somewhere else if available..
I was way overdue. Fact is, though, I have a vision problem. For many years it was virtually impossible for me to watch video or read. I've been on the federal Talking Book program since 1990. I use adaptive software to make sound files off the internet and for books. About a decade ago, I started taking medication twice a day that helps my situation. When I go to see the movie, I have to plan to do nothing else with my eyes that day.Wow. I've been to 38 movies this year alone.
A re-edit for a theatrical re-release is not going to happen. But if would be cool if they re-release the movie later. There was a time when Hollywood studios used to do that often, but these days once the intial run is over they just move on to the home video release.
Maybe they should just re-edit the cut scenes back into the movie proper when it comes out on DVD? Jettison the whole "Deleted Scenes" option on the disc's menu and perhaps just include "Extended Sequences" or "Outtakes" instead.
Has it passed that one Harry Potter movie yet?
The film won't have as good of legs since there are less days when people are free during the week unlike summer.
But if indeed SM and TIII come out during the summer, that'll leave less time for Trek to prosper, won't it?
It depends on where they might put Trek. June 2011 isn't too bad right now. Holiday 2010 might be crazy since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 comes out in mid-November and another Narnia movie in December (which probably won't be big just like PC).
I'll have to see if I can remember where I saw it, but Abrams, in response to an interview question about a possible future "director's cut" edition of the movie, said words to the effect that what was seen in the theaters is the director's cut and that no plans existed to recut the deleted scenes back into the picture.Maybe they should just re-edit the cut scenes back into the movie proper when it comes out on DVD? It depends on what Abrams wants. If he cut those scenes out for stylistic/story reasons, then I'd hope they aren't put back in. Especially since the Spock birth scene doesn't seem like it would fit in well, either before or after Kirk's birth scene (seems redundant in a way).
You've got one of those yellow tape players from the Library of Congress or the Braille Institute?I was way overdue. Fact is, though, I have a vision problem.
