Official Avengers 4 Anticipation Thread

Rumor has it the title of the 4th movie is "Avengers: Annihilation"

Considering how Dave Bautista has been very vocal about possibly leaving this could be how it ends for Drax.

That would be pretty funny, considering that this is the event that had Drax actually kill Thanos (Until he came back three or four years later...)

Mark Ruffalo- *nervous laugh* They're just joking right?

He was filming an episode of the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon early Friday afternoon and let slip the title for Avengers 4. Then tried texting Fallon to get it edited out cause he'd be in trouble, but it was too late so when it aired he was bleeped out and mouth black barred. Then the Russo's responded by texting, 'Mark, you're fired.'

Or it's just a big joke :)

I like to think it's all a big joke to ramp up the excitement for the title (which is silly, but whatever) considering Ruffalo has a history of accidentally spoiling Marvel stuff. The same would've been true if this was Tom Holland instead.

Besides, I think the Russo Brothers have more class than to fire Ruffalo over Twitter. I mean, they're not the president of the United States, after all.

I can't really see them using that title for an ensemble Avengers movie. If it was a Cap movie, I could see, but not one based around the whole team.

The only rumor so far that I actually think is a decent title is Annihilation. No idea if it would actually fit the movie or not.

Bit of a mouthful that. It was the name of a cosmic event in the comics.

Avengers: Annihilation. Seems short and sweet to me. Good alliteration. No particular pronunciation stumbling block or repetitiveness. Good rhythm, syllabically speaking.

It was indeed a comic, just as Age of Ultron was. And like AoU the movie doesn't need to be based on the comic to use the title. It just needs to fit the movie reasonably well.

I am hoping that Annihilation is not the title because I would love to see the Annihilation story line as a multiple movie thread incorporating at least the space based characters.

I haven't actually read that one, so have no opinion in that regard. It could of course still be used in the future, just with a different title. But I honestly don't expect Annihilation to be the title here, nor any of the other rumors. I think Feige still has it successfully under wraps, probably even from the cast and crew. Its not like any of them actually even need to know. Avengers 4 is good enough for everyone except the marketing people, and I'm not sure if they're actually on the job yet or not.

Look for early previews of the merchandising, as the manufacturers already know titles, characters, etc. Historically, toy and soundtrack packaging has spoiled movie titles and plot points long before trailers were released (anyone remember "Qui-Gon's Noble End" soundtrack listing before The Phantom Menace was released?), so the A4 title might be found there.
