O'Brien out, Leno back in?

I don't get the Leno hate, really. He hasn't really done anything wrong so far.

Six years ago, he said he would hand over The Tonight Show to Conan, no fuss no muss. Come six years later, instead of retiring and giving Conan his time in the spotlight, he's poised to steal the show back from him (even though his own ratings at 10 PM haven't been great).

No matter how you cut it, it's pretty douchey behavior to say you're gonna let someone take a job and then steal it away from them again.

Add to that, Jay had to sign a new contract to get back the Tonight Show, it wasn't part of the existing one. in other words, NBC essentially said "hey you want to take over Conan's show?" and he said "YES!!!" - you notice that new contract was actually signed days ago. There was no time wasted.

Seriously he pretended like he was Conan's buddy, and then jumped at the chance to throw him out. That's pure asshole behavior. We've gotten to this point where it's sooo ok to act like a douchebag if it benefits your career. Because that's all there is to life. Yes, in his heart Jay didn't really want to leave the tonight show. We know that. Going out of your way to screw someone over like that to get what you want says a lot about you.

Should NBC have canceled Leno in early 1993?
They very nearly did. All this has happened before, and it will happen again...

Makes you wonder what NBC will do when they have to replace Jay Leno because he either decides to retire for real or keels over.

(Maybe they'll hire some new guy and then replace him with Leno's rotting corpse. It's not like there'd be any degradation in the quality of his jokes.)

The Tonight Show with CARSON DALY!...

I would never watch another late night talkshow ever agin if that happened.

I don't think NBC even remembers that they haven't cancelled Last Call with Carson Daly yet. "We're still doing that show?!"

If NBC is that stupid they'll capitalize/ hire him because his name begins with Carson

I don't like him because he's like 36 and trying to be hip with the green day demographic

It will be a cold day in hell if Carson Daly gets that show. Even if they get Carson it will be another victory for people who hate NBC.

I MIGHT be able to withstand Fallon

I really don't think Carson Daly would even want the show. He's not a comedian.

I'll throw my vote behind Zombie Reagan.

Jimmy Fallon doesn't fit the bill either. After Jay they will have to find someone with a big personality who is also extremely funny...if not the show is dead.

Witchcraft and Johnny Carson with Zombie Ed McMahon.

"Tonight's guests will also be Ed's dinner, oh look's like he's eating Joan Embery already"

He absolutely is. I don't think Green Day has been popular with the teenage demographic for a while. I'm 25, and I'd be surprised if many people younger than me listened to Green Day at all.

I'm 29, and I listened to Green Day in middle school. For those uninformed, that's more than 14 years ago.
