Obi Wan series on the way?

^ I'm done talking to you.

Your baseless delusions and conspiracy theories have made any attempt at actual conversation totally useless.

This is the Obi-Wan thread.

The news is that production is on a temporary hold while the scripts are improved.

That's a good decision by KK, right?

Only if you trust KK to know the difference between a good script and bad script. I don't have that trust. She isn't a writer or artist. She needs to trust her talent but apparently the only person she trusts in that regard is Jon Favearau and Rian Johnson and she knows she can't use the latter anymore since the fandom hates him and since you don't have a Luke/Leia/Han to hedge your bets that people will show up for the next movies just because it has Star Wars in the title so you got to go with someone that is more beloved. Right now that looks to be Waititi until it's not unless it is. Who really knows but the odds are she will not like something he will want to do and then it will be onto the next director.

A lot of conjecture based on rumors here.

Well it is the internet. Everything is pretty much conjecture but from the outside looking in it doesn't look like she has done a great job. Granted she might not even be around much longer anyways because her contract will be up so they might just be running out the clock with her in charge. Trying to delay everything until they are more certain who they want running things. God knows they have being doing that with Rian Johnson who seems to have been working on his trilogy for 20 years now it feels.

Jason

Rian Johnson hasn't started any kind of work on his trilogy, though everyone claims it's still on. Based on conjecture and rumor ( ;-) ) I personally suspect his trilogy will not get made.

IGN recently spoke to Ewan McGrengor at a press event for Birds of Prey, and he says that as far as he knows all that's happening is that now that The Rise of Skywalker is out of the way they've decided to take a bit more time to focus on the series, and that they are pushing shooting from August to January. He claims that the release date isn't being moved, but I would think they would have to at least push it back a little if they are shooting it five months later than they originally planned.

Rumor is that they cut the series down to 4 episodes in order to still release it on time. Also, I wonder if the episodes will be super short like Mandalorian...

I really don't know enough about what exactly is going on, and how all of this works to want her fired. What we get is a small fraction of what is going on, and without being at Lucasfilm while all of the conversations and deals are going on, I really don't feel comfortable judging her.

Yup, I do.

Moving on.

No, and it has shifted from armchair quarterbacking to wishing for failure and her to be fired. I am supremely uncomfortable with that line of thinking. The fanbase is truly straining my good will at this point with the histrionics and judgements of things they do not have enough information.

Are non-fans truly any better?
Yes, they are.

Given how much of Mandalorian S1 took place in deserts, I'm kinda hoping for a change of scenery in the Obi-Wan show - as in, sure, he starts on Tatooine, but is called away elsewhere for a one-off mission. Because even if Mandalorian S2 mostly takes place on other planets than Nevarro, I don't expect it to drop its largely Western/desert aesthetic, and between that, Jakku, and Planet Burning Man, I'm getting pretty darn tired of desert planets in Disney's Star Wars.

If, however, the Obi-Wan show is just two hours/four eps of Ewan dicking around on Tatooine, I doubt I'll bother to subscribe for a month of Disney+ for that alone; I'll wait for another Star Wars or Marvel season release to watch them both.

I don't like that many fans of been sort of been wishing this for along time either but at the same time I don't think she needs to be protected if she isn't doing a good job just because the youtubers will have a field day with it. Sometimes things just don't work out. Even people who are qualified or have good resumes don't always come through. I'm sports fan so I think of situations like Vince Lombardi as football coach with the Redskins or Phil Jacksons terrible run as the Knicks coach. I'm sure she if and when she is fired she will move on and do good things elsewhere. While it's true fans don't have the inside scoop, fans do know if they are liking the final product and I don't think Star Wars has been all that good under her watch for the most part. The only thing that seems to be universally loved is The Mandorlorian and that is one that many feel she had the least involvement in. A repeat of the Berman lack of influence over DS9 story.

Honestly, if she were universally loved I would be more worried. I simply don't expect someone to please 100% of the base 100% of the time. It strikes as highly unlikely, to say the least.

If fans don't like the final product (and complaining isn't proof positive of that) then SW will start losing money. I'm still waiting for that to happen. Thus far, and this anecdotal, but the ST made money, Solo made money (despite being below expectations), and merchandise is selling well. As in, I cannot find any ST merchandise to buy at the local stores I frequent. I find Lando Calrissian in Skiff Guard disguise though. I'll sell you a gross-cheap :D
