Yup. It's just business. Business is messy. The only reason why people care about the inner workings of this business is because "fandom." But, @Campe98 has a point:

uh that's what VETTING is.. it's sitting down at a table, for a few hours at least and making sure you see eye to eye on the project, it's tone, and where and how the money is being spent, where each and every dollar is going to go, what actors you hire and how they'd be used. Multiple meetings over multiple weeks before directors are announced to the public, and then after that announcement, more meetings. and more.

Kathleen Kennedy hired Lord and Miller because she believed that their improvisational style could be harnessed and channeled to create a Star Wars film that was unique.
There was nothing in their previous body of work to indicate that they would obstinately refuse to corrall and channel their improvisational impulses to work within the scripted framework of a project like Solo.

what you said is a total contradiction. "improvisational impulses" and "scripted framework".. .. scripts are not merely framework. And while the director should be able to do their individual artsy fartsy style once hired they still have to go with what the producer has guided them.. and Feige, over the course of over 20 films, has had only a few such hiccups in that regard. What, a guy leaves AntMan because his vision was changed in the five years his project got to the bullpen because the MCU itself was different? Ok that kind of happens in the treadmill of production. But she should have known that L and M were not making the film she ordered.. most certainly before the film got 80 percent done. But it's the pattern that's more disturbing. If I'm in college and I drive from the apartments on one side of the campus to the dorms on the other side and the campus police stop be because I'm buzzed, maybe that could be a slap on the wrist. She did know that Lord and Miller weren't doing what she wanted them to do, and she gave them numerous opportunities to find an acceptable middle ground between following their own Muse and giving her what she wanted.
As far as a "pattern" goes, there isn't one.
Benioff and Weiss left because they "got a better deal", and television production frequently sees changes in narrative direction all the time.
You've invented this preposterous idea that firing people who weren't doing what they were asked to do, seeing two people depart a project in favor of a better long-term working environment, and a very routine aspect of television production resulting in the postponement of a planned shoot date represents "bad leadership".

It's been 5 bloody months since she said the scripts were DONE until NOW to work on them and get them ready. That's not including the time before she said they were DONE and she (supposedly) read them.
So maybe it's a good decision, as much as it is for a kid to try hard to make his science paper not sound like he's plagiarizing wikipedia.
Now they are telling us there are problems with it. if what Ewan said was true (90 percent of the script was great) then they would NOT need to fire the writer and lose two whole episodes! ... not would production need to be pushed off another six months.

She was really good as a non- creative.. a no nonsense producer who knew how to bring projects in on time and on budget, and coordinate location photography and set up all the things that a SINGLE film needs (one film at a time) as a producer with her own pedigree in Hollywood, which she did for MANY years. I feel it would be better for everyone if she did that again. Her being in charge of multiple films at once, being both the creative headmaster and the producer, is not her forte... it's the same reason the star quarterback is not suddenly shifted to being wide receiver. Everyone has their skill set.

1) Josh Trank got himself fired by getting drunk and being an asshole in public just moments before he was supposed to go up on stage with Kennedy at San Diego Comic-Con, as well as by having gotten caught vandalizing property while on the set of Fantastic Four
2) Rian Johnson's Trilogy is still happening
3) There's absolutely no way that Kathleen Kennedy could've predicted that Benioff and Weiss would be signed to a very lucrative and long-term deal with Netflix that offered them much more creative control in the long run

Trank was not properly vetted. The leader picks the directors just like any leader picks the people that working for them and serve under them. Long long discussions of what needs to happen need to take place. Trank gets blame for his behavior, but deflecting the blame from her is not being realistic.
