Obi Wan series on the way?

Kenobi series is coming. That's not in doubt.

Maybe a little doubt. I mean it wouldn't be the most shocking thing especially if you do think their is behind scenes turmoil over leadership issues. I think the odds are still very, very good it will happen but nothing is certain. Also it becomes a question if we will be seeing the original vision or will it be tinkered with. You really got to wonder what is going to change when they decided to go with new scripts. Maybe Kenobi looking over Luke is no longer a things for the show and instead he goes and hangs out with Yoda or something instead.

When do we ever see the original vision of anything? We won't be seeing the original vision because it would have been Mandalorian 2 with baby Luke instead of Yoda. I'm glad that got scrapped.

Well we eventually got the original vison of A NEW HOPE when Lucas was able to add the Dewbacks and McClunky as he always intended.

At this point, they won't be able to pull out, the fan base has gone Obi Wan crazy for this project.

The doubt I share is not if it's coming but if it truly will be a series. If it's cut down from six to four episodes, it'll be a feature. Not a feature they'd release in theatres, but as a streaming feature.

Unless, of course, it gets a season 2.

I don't want to split hairs on this, but couldn't a potential S2 also become a second, follow-up feature? Or you're suggesting it could be S2 because they'll plan it better. That might be good.

Personally, I'd much prefer it stay a series, shorter or longer.

Season 1 would set a framework for an easier to plan season 2. The longer the season, the longer people keep d+, so I don't think they'd go with 4 again.

Reactions: ALF
Not even Disney wants to just lose 50 million.. especially not on the number one film franchise of all time. I mean after Solo "happened" they quickly dropped the idea of dropping a new film every year.
The loss was NOT shrugged off It's asinine to believe so
That is pretty much the Hollywood equivalent to a shrug. What they tried didn't work, so they metaphorically shrugged their shoulders and decided to try something else. If had really been that much of a disaster they would have they would have completely revampted the whole franchise, and fired a whole bunch of people, and started over from scratch. Instead they just decided to spread out the releases a bit more.
The DC movies are a perfect example of how Hollywood reacts to a disaster, and the reaction to Solo was no where near that drastic.

How was it different?

I guarantee you no oen shrugs at 50 million. It seems like that, but they don't. It's a huge loss. Also do you think these studios just have 50 million on hand, that they just open a box and it's right there. No ..

Think about it this way - the whole purpose of a movie is to make money. When a movie loses money it's basically like doing allllll that work and the studio would have been better off if you just never did it. It's not good at all.

Yeah, I've seen reactions to "disasters." I've heard from friends in Hollywood how it all works out.

None of Disney's or LFL's reactions were that drastic, so it clearly wasn't that bad. Your point is on the money, no pun intended. They tried something and it didn't work. Adjust and move on.

I think Hollywood knows the game well enough to know that sometimes your going to loose money on a movie but I do think it must bother them more when they loose money on a movie that is part of a franchise that is suppose to basically print money. The economic failure of "Solo" ended up undoing lots of their plans like the, one SW movie a year and of course any sequels to it or a spin-off with Lando.

Yeah how is any of that a "shrug"? That was a MASSIVE course correction... No smaller than what DC did.

Lucasfilm changed their schedule and chose to shift their focus towards Disney+. Warner Brothers completely restructured their film division after BvS, demoted Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, and gone through 4 different directors on the Flash movie alone, not to mention firing Zack Snyder in the middle of their massive team-up movie. There has been a lot of shakeups at the executive level at DC, but Bob Iger has never shown anything but support for Kathleen Kennedy. Lucasfilm rolled with the punches. DC panicked.
