Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

There's an infamous video which comedically makes the point that if Obi-Wan had super speeded there he would have gone right into the hole.

That's one way to explain it. The real reason is that Maul needed plot armor long enough to kill Qui-gon.
Qui-Gon and Maul make it all the way to the end while walking and fighting, and yet Obi-Wan can't get there when running. Super unlucky for him that the 'force fields of unknown need' have such random activation times. ;)

Nothing of that set in Theed makes sense to me.

Maul at least seemed to control the force fields. Things happen because the plot needs them to happen.

I mean, it's maybe supposed to be shielding for the reactor, so that you can come and go into the maintenance area, but the outside is never dosed at all? But then what is that infuriating wait cycle for, when you're trapped in one of the chambers? Is that so you can get decontaminated somehow? Maybe, I suppose.... But it's not nearly as cool as that humming tunnel of lights that Luke went through in Cloud City, after his first confrontation with Vader and right before his second.

All of Cloud City was just pretty rad, but especially its underbelly where the duel took place. Just cool-ass production design the entire way.

It's generally best to remember that Star Wars action often runs off Flash Gordon level logic, and is far from grounded or even internally consistent. Things like this generally happen according to what's the most thrilling in the moment, not what makes the most sense. This is basically the same category as "why do the space ships fly like planes when they're supposed to be in a vacuum?" You can make up some technical nonsense to explain in, but it honestly doesn't really matter.
There has to be a reason why the Jedi who can go superspeed aren't always at superspeed when they're engaged in fighting. So, there must be some limitation on the ability of any Jedi to use their Force powers, even after they've been training for decades.

My technical nonsense explanation for the super-speed thing is simply that even Jedi are subject to inertia. So it's not something they like to do in enclosed spaces, or on unlevel ground. Long flat starship corridors with plenty of room to slow back down on the other hand? Perfect.
Also; there's no such thing as "force powers" in the sense people typically mean it. That misconception is mostly an artefact of gaming systems that sought to incorporate force abilities into a way that makes sense for the given medium (be it pen & paper RPGs, or video games.)
The force is just how they interact with the world. Employing any skill or ability takes a degree of focus and attention. More so when one consciously uses the force. So the answer to every question that revolved around "why didn't they just do 'X' here?" is pretty much "because these characters are finite beings and can't think and do everything at once". Also; see the beginning of this post RE: Flash Gordon logic.

Cloud City made a sort of sense.

The Theed hanger complex unfortunately does not.

Always been my view.
