Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

He died minutes after his first appearance, unless you’re counting the Tartakovsky series.
Minutes?

He fights with Obi-Wan and Anakin, and then Obi-Wan and still looms as the primary threat until Obi-Wan kills him.

He needed to die faster. Or not be in the movie at all.

Tartakovsky even got some legit comedic moments out of him, like when Shaak Ti uses the Force to tie his cloak to the hi-speed train and he gets yanked out of frame. ( Palpatine notices what she's doing but doesn't say anything. )

I thought the implication was that sometimes Jedi are not in tune with the Force enough to use superspeed, super strength, etc., possibly due to physical exhaustion or other limitations in their abilities. Maybe the mere presence of a Sith dampens the abilities of a Jedi.

When was that implied? (Other than the fact that they just don't do it again, of course.)
There has to be a reason why the Jedi who can go superspeed aren't always at superspeed when they're engaged in fighting. So, there must be some limitation on the ability of any Jedi to use their Force powers, even after they've been training for decades.

As far as the other part, Mace Windu said that the Jedi's ability to use the Force was diminished, in connection with the furthering of the Sith plot to take over. So, that's a clear suggestion that Jedi abilities can get curtailed by Sith activity.

I can be wrong but wasn't he talking about it while being on Coruscant? Maybe their connection to the Force were diminished because they were close to Palpatine

So two Sith are enough to cause Jedi spread all over the galaxy to slow down? No wonder they were scared.

Yes, one would think so. :shifty:

Mainly because Star Wars is far more than Xbox games

If that was the reason, then that would mean that a Sith ability is to dampen Jedi powers.

Windu and Yoda were have a discussion about Jedi precognition- the ability to see possible future outcomes. Yoda was incensed that they hadn't foreseen the creation of the clone army. Their ability to 'use the Force being diminished' had to do with the growing shroud of the dark side, in that there was fear and hate festering throughout the galaxy at the onset of the clone wars. I don't think it was meant to imply that this was a specific Sith ability, just the results of the actions of the Sith.

As for Jedi abilities not always being used in a fight, that's for dramatic effect. Most fights would end too quickly for a SW movie if every Jedi simply lifted his/her opponent with the Force, threw them four stories straight up, and let gravity handle the rest. Same thing with Ahsoka and Morgan Elsbeth in the Mandalorian. Ahsoka should have just faceplanted her with the Force, held her there, and . . . . oh, yeah, fight's over. No choreography required. The problem with the Force is that GL allowed it to become a superpower in the PT, which then had to be 'written around.' Jedi should never have been able to leap tall buildings and run faster than the bionic man.

Well, yes, I would basically agree with this. The Sith don't just stand around and do nothing. Palpatine's machinations had wheels within wheels. He had given the Jedi a metric shit ton to deal with. Even though there were just two Sith, there was a lot of activity and no clear pattern that could lead the Jedi towards what was behind it all. They seemed to be always chasing their tails. And while there may have been only two Sith, master and apprentice, there were also various Sith-adjacent agents, acolytes, allies, and other disciples, all doing their things. Sith presence always came with things happening all about them.

The swelling hatred throughout the galaxy as the civil war waged on probably amplified the dark side of the Force even more.

If we were to approach the problem using video game mechanics, perhaps Force abilities like superspeed require recharging after each use.

The Force was a "superpower" before the PT. Luke used the Force to super-jump out of that carbonite freezing chamber before Vader could freeze him.

True, but that was a jump of about 12-15 feet to grab some hanging stuff. He was still almost within Vader's reach.

It's a far cry from Anakin leaping off a speeder over Coruscant and free-falling for thirty seconds before soft-landing a bullseye on a moving airspeeder, or Obi-wan making that approximate 4-story jump from one walkway to the other in the power station on Naboo, or Ahsoka jumping out of that high window on Corellia and soft landing it no problem. Or the way Obi-wan stopped his fall off the platform on Kamino during his fight with Jango Fett.
