News Obi-Wan Kenobi series premiering on May 27

I mean, given the appearances of Luke on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, can we really be sure McGregor is actually involved? :shifty:
I wouldn't be able to stand watching a show that makes extensive use of deepfake/CGI/whatever for the main character.

Kor

In a new interview with McGregor, he says that Hayden Christensen returned "as Anakin Skywalker."

So hopefully that means he's in the show solely as Anakin in flashback form and the many fears (which I share) about a Vader appearance/confrontation will prove to be unfounded.

Since Hayden is going to be in the Ahsoka series, also in flashback form, this seems to make sense. Good thing the guy hasn't aged much!

We did see a piece of concept art that showed a new Vader/Kenobi duel, so there is a possibility they will run into each other in the series' present day, but there's also the possibility it could be a vision/dream.

Perhaps they meet each other in a force vision, but neither one realizes that other is real and not a figment of the force (like Vader in the Dagoba cave)

I am highly skeptical of having Vader appear. It will require an extremely restrained use to give me enjoyable appearance by the most overhyped character from Star Wars after Boba Fett.

Vader never finished his sentence...."I sense something. A presence I've not felt since........." Everyone assumes he meant since Mustafar, but they could have met again.......

Well there was that later line in the movie "When I left you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master."

Unless they're going to twist this battle into a learning experience for Vader.

What would be the silliest thing? Have Vader and Kenobi have to work together for some reason and while they remain antagonists, they somehow fall back to their regular banter like they use to do in the Clone Wars (mutual snark).

There's no way you bring Vader back and have him not fight Obi Wan or at least encounter each other again. They wouldn't have Vader in this series if they weren't going to fight. Didn't they even promote this as "the greatest rematch of the century"?

The fake out is that it is actually an Anakin story and we follow around Darth Vader most of the time.
I'm betting it's actually Grogu, the missing years and we'll see Mini Mando in training.

I am highly skeptical of having Vader appear.
I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!

Wait... What! May 25th? They couldn't have gotten it ready for broadcast three weeks earlier? OK, I'll settle for the anniversary, but sheesh.

He also wasn't a Padawan Learner anymore when he left either, so we are already interpreting this "from a certain point of view"

I don't really think they'd be pumping up Christensen's return if he was played present-day, physical-reality Darth Vader. In that case, it'd basically be an easter egg, since it could be anyone inside that suit, and James Earl Jones (or a soundalike) would be doing the voice. It's certainly possible we'll see Darth Vader qua Darth Vader, but I expect Christensen is going to be involved for flashbacks or visions. Probably least likely is some kind of figurative filmmaking thing, where we're seeing Anakin in Darth Vader's place through Obi-Wan's eyes.

I'd say we could get a bacta tank Vader Hayden, flashback to Anakin Hayden and a possible Vader unmasking reveal with Hayden (either in battle or as a way to taunt Obi Wan). I hope we get to see Vader's castle again.

Dude, we are literally getting an Obi Wan TV series. What's to complain about :p
