I love Kira and would consider her the better character over all of them but for the role of Number One? I'm going with Spock.

What makes her the better character for you? Do you mean in terms of conceptulisation or execution, or something else?

Er everything to be honest. I thought Nana Visitor acted her socks off and I think the character of Kira is one the most fully realized characters ever on ST. Oh and also Duet :-)

Voted Spock, but might have voted for Majel if there'd been an option.

But decided to keep it at the main casts. I probably would have voted for Number One as well.

Spock is the quintessential First Officer. His loyalty to his captain and crew is unsurpassed.

We have to remember Spock was pulling double duty. He was not only ship's First Officer he was also Ship's Chief Science Officer. If he's holding both of those positions and responsibilities and doing them both well then he's got it all over the others.

Number One from "The Cage" would be an interesting option, but we simply don't know enough about her.

I can't believe this poll is as close as it is. Maybe if the wording was just "best first officer," rather than the title Picard used for Riker, Spock would be winning the landslide he deserves.

I voted for Kira because she has always been my top favourite character and she's really cool. But I like Spock and Riker too.
