Now It’s Spock’s Turn

Spock's Barber

In The Tholian Web, Kirk had his chance to say a final message to Spock and McCoy. Suppose the tables were turned. What do you think Spock would say in his final words to his friends? And McCoy...I’d be really interested in what his message would be.

That's a tough one. It's actually a great post and I didn't want to see it sink. The downside is, I'm not very good at trying to think of what Spock might say so I'll just try to wing it the best I can:

"Captain, Doctor. I apologize for overwriting the Captain's pre-filmed farewell address you that the doctor and I were to see next week. Sorry captain, spoiler alert. It could be worse. I could have left behind a copy of 'The Wiggles Cover Nursery Rhymes' but without your glasses you'd think they're the crew doing an encore show in the theater while inebriated on all of Mr Scott's scotch. Live long and *hic* prosper."

Taking it seriously, I'd imagine Spock's message being something like "Captain, I regret failing in my duty. I have prepared the ship's rotas for [however many] weeks, and Lt Sulu/Uhura should be able take take over my duties as first officer without major disruption. Ensign Chekov is ably fitted to be temporary science officer. I hope my permanent replacement succeeds where I must have failed."

One thing Spock might have said in TWOK, when he was saying goodbye to Kirk through the glass:
"I trained myself to function without friendship. I needn't have bothered. Thank you."
