Nova class

I'm adding this to my LCARS library pretty soon. I got all the information from Memory Alpha but noticed conflictiing specs on other sites. It seems okay to me, and the image is not much different from all the others on the Web, but now's the time to look for any mistakes. The reason one pointer is blue is for highlighting (with the up- and down- arrow keys).

One thing is missing though. No Photon Torpedo launcher. It should be between the Main Deflector and the bottom of the computer core.

You can't go wrong with the Defiant pathfinder.

Perhaps.

But I just like the idea of these tiny little short-range scout ships. :)

As beautiful and elegant as the large capital ships are (like the various Enterprises) sometimes I think it'd be nice to be in a ship where you could reasonable visit and see everywhere in it. Seems to me living in one would be akin to living in a small rural town as compared to living in a city.

What is all that stuff that the shuttles are jammed on top of in the shuttle bay?

Cargo?

NICE PIC!!!

They look like the 24c equivilant to those shipping containers you see them sliding in and out of 747s. ;)

We see a bunch of these in TMP while boarding the the Enterprise. The "shuttles" in there look like workbees, presumably the "forklifts" to move the shipping containers in and out of the back of the ship.

Then again, the ship is supposed to have an aft-facing torpedo launcher somewhere in the spine - and this "cargo bay" area seems like the best bet.

The two forward launchers in turn should indeed be on the same level as the upper/auxiliary deflector dish, at the very bow of the primary hull. It could be difficult to draw them in because they'd obscure our view of that deflector. Perhaps they could be left out, and only the aft launcher drawn in, if we assume that the graphic only depicts the things found at or near the ship's centerline.

But if the graphic is supposed to show crucial systems, then it might need to take liberties with the placement of those systems. Much like the Voyaget MSD shows the nacelles moved away from their real position, for easier viewing of the shuttlebay area, this graphic might show either the torpedo launchers or the deflector moved outside the ship and only connected to it with a line, an arrow, or other suitable symbology.

Yes, those are work bees near the top of the cargo bay and so labeled in the schematic (although in the wrong color; I've fixed that). That's actually how they are shown in the MSD published in Star Trek: The Magazine, which can be seen at Memory Alpha in the article about the Nova class. That doesn't show a floor. Maybe I should. I'm trying not to deviate from that any more than necessary. It doesn't show the aft torp launcher, though, and I'd like to put it in if I can find out where it goes.

I think there's a microtorp launcher on each side of the navigational deflector, as well. Here's a group of CGI shots (with some battle damage).

I have to admit that the Nova is my favorite design.

Small, functional, nice looking.... heck, I want one.

The Nova-class is my favorite 24th-Century design too. It's the kind of ship I would have liked to serve on or possibly even command if I was in Starfleet.

Good job on the MSD, LCARS 24. As far as the aft torpedo launcher, I would place it on deck six. Perhaps it shares the same torpedo magazine as the forward launchers.

I like it from many angles. I don't care for its profile, though: too "chunky." Still, I like it overall.
