Not doing too good with speeding tickets lately

Sorry, Italians are the worst drivers. I've been in a car with an Italian speeding on the wrong side of a two lane road in the rain to pass 6 cars.

2 tickets in 2 months? I'm pretty sure that's enough to get your license suspended in Illinois these days.

In the State of Illinois, you'll receive a suspension for three moving violations within 12 months; if you're under 21, it's two violations within 24 months.

It's called 'overtaking'

Only in your country; people from the UK have no standing to tell Americans their use of language is wrong, and vice versa. We are 400 years separated from you in language (and the clock started ticking in 1607 on that, not 1776). The point of separation was before any officially established standards in England; both countries established standards entirely independent of each other and both are equally legitimate. And while we may seem like the odd one out, no other country is as divergent linguistically (Canada comes closer but remains a Commonwealth territory) because no English colony gained its independence so early.

Wow this thread blossomed! I haven't checked it in a day! Thank you all for the feedback and responses, I will look over each one and respond later.

I'm really starting to worry about how many points I already have on my license. I got into an accident two years ago, and didn't have insurance, and reading the hand book, that too adds points to your license, argh. So I ordered a copy of my driving report from the DMV, it will be sent to me, then I can see my driving history and how many points I have, and I'll be prepared when I go into court.

Have you tried -not- speeding?

I don't understand why everyone feels the urge to drive at crazy speeds anyhow. I set my cruise control to 5 MPH over the limit, and oddly I always get to my destinations within a perfectly reasonable amount of time.

Granted I live in the northeast, where the road tends to incline one towards not driving overly-fast...particularly in Winter.

I don't think Nick was criticising the use of language, he was mocking the attitude that passing 6 cars in the rain is dangerous by trivialising it as a simple manoeuvre that anyone should be able to execute.
