Nook Vs. Kindle?

Get a Nook... One simple reason. If your local library has an Online version then you can rent books from it.. FREEFREEFREE

They're just the returned nooks, mostly 'cause grandma couldn't work it, or dad got an ipad the next day or whatever. If your nook breaks and it is still under the protection plan, those are the ones sent out as replacements.

While not giving it away they are offering something for less than $90.!

This blog predicted it:
You can think of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as the Crazy Eddie of the e-book business: Every time a rival gets close to the Kindle's prices, Bezos goes even lower. He will not be undersold!
Why e-readers will soon cost less than $100.

Yet the display on the NookClassic is much brighter and the text a lot sharper (even more so with the latest 1.5 firmware update).

I haven't touched my KindleDXi since I've bought my Nook in August. :)

I was originally leaning toward a Kindle but I think I'm getting a Nook next year. :)

Oh, and if you buy the Classic, you should try to softroot your Nook. This would give you (among other things) a cover-flow-library that is otherwise only reserved for books bought and downloaded from B&N; it's a way to navigate through your collection that is far more convenient than the usual flipping through pages and selecting via cursor/arrow-keys (like on an unrooted Nook or a Kindle).

What? You can take out library books on a Nook?

How does this work?

I was given a classic Nook as a present recently, and I'm still trying to figure out all that I can do with it.

Wondered at first if I'd been given something just in time for it to go obsolete--but I saw the color Nook and decided I didn't like it. Plus...I'm not gonna look a gift Nook in the mouth. ;)

Adobe Digital Editions. Download Epubs or EPdf. drag and drop into your Nook.

i was going back and fourth between a netbook, a nook, and a kindle. but i managed to get a hold of a kindle 2 for a bargain so i couldnt resist. yeah, its not the newest model, but it'll do.

About the library books thing, you may want to ask your local library, since I imagine that varies. My local library has an agreement with a 3rd party e-book lender, but of course you have to have a library card & account to access it.
