In fact, it's one of the few season three episode I do like.

 

@I_like_andorians did you get a chance to watch any TOS episodes recommended???

 

Not as of yet unfortunately.
Have been abroad so haven't been watching much star trek

 

If TOS's lack of contemporary hyper-realism is difficult, I would suggest thinking of the whole thing as a stylized stage play, because in those days television still leaned a little more in that direction. Nobody expects the visual backdrops of a stage production to be like a flashy Hollywood blockbuster. Rather, the emphasis is on story and character.

To me, TOS at its best offers a sublimely satisfying narrative experience. But then, I may be somewhat biased, as I generally only like media of any kind from about the 1930s to the 1960s.
