Non Trekker/Trekkie reaction

the only thing my best friend had to say was, 'so its just Star Trek? not Star Trek: the so and so of the whatever?'. he's a big Star Wars fan so we don't always see eye to eye.

My friend adores Abrams so he says he'll go see it.

Although he did think the bridge looked rubbish after seeing it again.

My girl thought it was pretty mindless.

Just showed it to one of my mates, he likes Trek, but is by no means a 'Trekkie'. This was his reaction on my Facebook wall...

"it looks horrible, so fucking hollywood and ridiculous. I couldn't believe it to be honest. Oh well, we'll see I guess."

We shall see indeed....

One of my buddies saw the trailer when he saw Quantum of Solace and told me he was relieved that it looked good since he figured there was no way I wasn't going to be dragging him to this.

A person I spoke to today said he thought it was strange how Spock was all aggressive and in Kirks face and that everyone on the Enterprise looks like Teenagers. So I asked him if he might go see the movie and if he thinks he'd like it. But he said because it's JJ Abram he felt he is going to be disappointed because Abrams hypes everything he does and keeps everything a secret like "Lost" but never actually delivers on that hype. But he said that's what people usually go for these days in Hollywood.

You know, your reflection in the mirror is not another person.

:guffaw: :guffaw:

Quiet you. With a mug like yours I wouldn't be laughing about what reflection other people see in the mirror

My brother likes Trek but is hardly a Trekkie, and then considers TOS inferior to TNG in just about every way. He's more of a Hitchcock-loving movie guy, and his reaction to the trailer was surprised apprehension; he said it wasn't at all what he expected, that he had thought it was going to feel more like show, (read: less action/sex/explosions) but said the trailer did look 'interesting' and that he'll probably go and see for himself. (Won't go to a midnight showing with me, but that was established a long time ago.)
