So, along with Simon Pegg, he's the second DW graduate in nu-Trek. Is JJ a fan or is this complete coincidence?

Good to see the talented Mr Clarke, who is also a writer and director, getting a break in Hollywood.

Maybe Billie Piper as Yeoman Rand? :)

So, when do we start running down the list of every established black guest starring role in TOS arguing about which one he is? Because, you know that him playing a newly-invented character is out of the question. ;)

They're already deep into it in the comments section. I liked the suggestion of him playing a Horta

He'll play the "Tin Dog" like he did on Dr. Who

Good to see, I hope it's a "Breakout" role for him. I had no idea he was already 36.

I thought his acting in Doctor Who was painful. Or maybe it was just the character.

And he's gonna be time-displaced Young Geordi. Get that man an alice band!

Pssst...His character is a Family Man. How could that be Geordi who had trouble getting a first date, let alone a second or more ;)

Ohmigod, he must be that transporter tech Evil Kirk clobbers in "The Enemy Within". . . .

I find the character descriptions interesting. A CEO, a family man with wife and kids. Sounds like they're not casting for a scifi movie but for a random contemporary drama.
