Noel Clarke Joins Trek (1)2

my guess is, even in the future, people will still have families.

I know, a very dystopian thought.

So, when do we start running down the list of every established black guest starring role in TOS arguing about which one he is? Because, you know that him playing a newly-invented character is out of the question. ;)

Pshshsh. He's obviously playing Uhura's brother.

The thing is what significance it has to the story. Will it be like "Yeah, my daughter back on Earth likes horses, my wife never understood that I wanted to join Starfleet.", or will it actually be relevant? Like... big interstellar CEO orders the kidnapping of the daughter of that guy, because she saw too much, and the guy is part of the Enterprise crew, so nuKirk and Co rush in and save the day.

Uhura is actually his wife. And the daughter has pointy ears. But since he is a little on the decelerated side, he never noticed.

If the interstellar CEO is a Klingon commander and the family man lives on Organia...
The plot sounds good.

I thought his acting in Doctor Who was painful. Or maybe it was just the character.

And he's gonna be time-displaced Young Geordi. Get that man an alice band!
Pssst...His character is a Family Man. How could that be Geordi who had trouble getting a first date, let alone a second or more ;)

They're holograms, silly!
Of course, why didn't I think of that. Though to be fair, he pretty much bombed out with his Holo-date too

Since Noel Clarke is also a behind the scenes guy, this opportunity may open up "Behind the Scenes" opportunities in Hollywood for him as well.

The link I followed just teased Doctor Who star and, to be honest, I was expecting Eccleston. When I saw Noel Clarke, my first thought was, "Blimey! Mickey-the-idiot?"

Good for Noel though, I really did enjoy him as Ricky, I mean Mickey.

Still think Eccleston would be great, though. ;)

I loved Clarke as "Mickey" on Dr. Who. He's a great actor. I doubt he's replacing Tyler Perry. That trekkie would probably do Barnett for free. Wonder who he will play?

I think he's going to play a new character never before seen in any classic series episode. It may be a character not even in Starfleet.

In the alternate universe, Tuvok was born sooner.
Exactly! And that's why: Because of the destruction of the USS Kelvin, Tuvoks uncle Tuborg who was supposed to take over Engineering on that ship, left Vulcan 5 years later than in the Prime Universe (PU), when he was hired by Starfleet officials to design the Engineering rooms for the new Constitution class. In those 5 years, early on, still angry because he suddenly was without job, he decided to take his brother Tupac to a Vulcan Striptease club, where Tupac then met Tuvoks mother Tulip for the first time, more than a decade earlier than he would have in the PU. Almost imediatly afther that event, Tuvok was conceived.
It all makes sense.

It's just the character. Noel Clarke is a very smart, funny, engaging man in person.

(Or, as he might say: "If you have to ask, you will never understand." ;) )

I'm pleased by this news - I just hope that the character isn't a Mickey clone, and that Noel has a chance to show his acting chops.
