Nobody owns Star Wars!

The best thing about you not having those movies on DVD is you didn't have to get screwed like the other Star Wars fans who were manipulated by all the releases. I'm talking about those who bought the 'special editions' with edited special effects and crap because they thought they were the only versions that would ever be released on DVD. Then George Lucas forces them to 'double dip' by releasing the original unedited versions after all. This is why I think George Lucas is a money-grubbing jerk and I'm glad I'm not a Star Wars fan.

Meh, I was fine with the original 2004 releases. I don't care enough about the original editions to worry about double dipping.

I still wish Lucas would take that damn Jedi Rocks scene out of ROTJ, though.

It's probably because all the movies were out by the time I was born and I had always watched them in marathon form on TV, but I have a hard time distinguishing any of the original trilogy movies from one another. To me, they are all just one big movie.

....trying...not to......say......."whippersnapper".......feel....need to say...."prequels suck!"........ackk! <and Python Trek dies>

You don't need to say "prequels suck." Everybody knows that already.

Oh, wow! You should read some of the Lucas-Lovers' comments that I've seen on line. The Holy Prequels are not to be disdained! It's a frickin' religion, with these people.

As a kid, ANH was far and away my favorite. I loved the Hoth battle in ESB but I found the rest of it slow and boring. I loved the opening Jabba stuff in ROTJ but I hated the Emperor stuff because it was slow and boring. And even as a small child I thought the Ewoks were stupid and it was ridiculous that they could beat the Empire! Of the second two thirds of ROTJ I only liked the space battles and Ackbar

Well thank god for the internet. I'd have never realized how much the PT sucked otherwise.
Funny though how it hasn't stopped thousands of fans from wanting to be Jedi.

Sorry, SW nerd rage just gets me a little grumpy.

TESB irks me, because it turns Obi-Wan into a manipulative old liar. Putting that aside, the Hoth scenes are pretty weak, especially the dialog, which is bad...Prequel Bad...in some places, but Cloud City's scenes are damn near perfect. Ending on a cliffhanger is unforgivable, however. Some of us had to wait 3 years for the resolution, you know...

ROTJ is waaaay under-rated. The Ewoks are only 1% as annoying as Jar-Jar. The scenes in the throne room are excellent, and the space battles are spectacular. Tatooine absolutely rocks in this movie---Jabba is amazing, and his CG version in the SE and in TPM can kiss my hairy yellow butt.

The big winnah for me is ANH. It's brilliant, from the first scene to the last. Best of all, it has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Gasp! Not that! Great film. Great acting, great story, great FX. Classic.

It's no worse than those who think that the prequels suck and no one should be allowed to like them.

I love the Prequel Trilogy. Better than the originals, in fact. And even then, I prefer the SE's to the theatrical cuts. The purists would not grant me the freedom to have those opinions; they'd pretty much call for my execution for that 'blasphemy'. :sigh:

To put it another way: Lucas HATERS are just as bad as Lucas apologists.

I'm mostly joking. I can't stand the prequels. I actually liked them a lot when I first saw them, but I have never been able to sit through them a second time. The acting and dialogue is just fucking awful, and I have to turn them off.

That said, I'm hardly an OT purist. I just think they're fun.

Kinda like wandering in to the Star Trek 2009 forum. Personally, I'd rather wander into a lion cage wearing meat underpants. :guffaw:

FWIW, Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars film. I still think Empire Strikes Back is the best-made film of the saga, objectively speaking, but if I had to pick just one to watch, it'd be ROTS -- flaws and all.

And I think the PT is fun. Why is there no room for that? :(

Look, I don't hate the OT. I just like the PT better. Is that so wrong? I'm 40 years old and remember the old days, in case anyone gives a shit.

Oh, I'm sorry, should I have put one of these at the end of that sentence ;) ? Or maybe one of these :p ?

People really need to take me less seriously around here. Good lord.
