No Ordinary Family?

Does anybody watch this show?

I really enjoy this series. Without a doubt, my favorite show of the 2010/2011 season. It's really just a lot of fun to watch every week. Each episode is fairly self-contained, though there is some sort of underlying thread that's been there since the start, it's really deep in the background.

I was happy to hear ABC ordered a full season, but I hold out hope it comes back for a second season. After six seasons steeped in LOST, it's refreshing to watch a new series that's nothing but pure fun.

Any other fans out there?

I watch V and often have No Ordinary family on for at least half the episode (For the past 3 or 4 weeks), I'm trying to like it, but so far it hasn't grabbed me. I am beginning to pay more attention though, so, maybe by the end of the season, I'll want to watch it again with appreciation

It isn't my cup of tea--it doesn't do anything new and I don't care for the Disney-esque approach to the series.

Ditto.

I watched for a while and liked it at first but the ABC/Disney/family aspects of it just got to be too much and it even got a dose of the "Smallville" oddity in there and, frankly, Smallville has enough of that for me to not need more. ;)

I'm not surprised you noticed the Smallville stuff since Family has two former Smallville writers on staff.

i like it. I just wish they did more superhero stuff with more than just Jim. I wanna see Julie Benz kick some ass.

It seems to me that a lot of TV shows these days begin with a great premise... and then they go in the exact opposite direction.

The superpower fight at the end of the pilot was better than any of the fights Heroes had over four seasons... but it appears that was where No Ordinary Family peaked.

I like the show, but I haven't been a consistent watcher. I started out being into it strong, but after missing a couple episodes, I realized that it wasn't that consequential for me to watch. One thing that did it for me was the episode where the telekinetic dude pretended to be the assistant's date. I didn't care for that move. It made more sense to me for him to just be 'himself' instead of impersonating someone. He could've just been conveniently on hand to meet her after the date didn't show up.

I still like the cast, especially Benz. She's never looked hotter, IMO. And the stories are generally okay, but not must see TV. However, I hope it gets a second season.

It's not a great show, but it's a solid one and it's improved considerably since its awkwardly written early episodes. I'm not crazy about the kid playing JJ, and the actor playing "Joshua"/the Watcher is quite weak, and Romany Malco tends to be annoying. But Chiklis is excellent, Benz is very good, Panabaker's not bad, and I utterly adore Autumn Reeser as Katie.

Ditto part two.

It'll probably be axed soon because of the horrible ratings. Just another example of how broadcast networks are not getting a clue: the genre audience doesn't want Disney pablum and the mainstream network audience doesn't care about genre material. Trying to appeal to both audiences just results in something that is rejected by both audiences. I've seen it happen over and over. It amazes me that nobody in the business recognizes the trend, or can't get the boss to listen. Not sure what is going on.

Genre shows can thrive on cable - The Walking Dead being a great example - but not on broadcast. The genre audience is too demanding, and too small for broadcast. Chuck is a good example of genre's future on broadcast - sometimes a genre show can survive, just barely, and it helps a lot if it airs on a desperate network.

Yet one again this year, the broadcast networks are loading up on genre shows. Don't anyone go getting too attached - sounds like a lot of shows that are never going to see a second season.

I love the show, but this is a domestic sitcom. The title says, No Ordinary Family, but this is ironic: The Powells are playing every ordinary family, repeating most of the domestic minidramas, which always end with The Triumphant Reaffirmation of the All-American Family. It is what it is, but it's not too bad at that. The superhero nonsense adds color, and the minidramas are done very smoothly indeed. It's rather more similar to The Middle than any other show I've seen recently. Except that The Middle isn't puffed up into an hour. I expect the show is canceled. Irony doesn't sell.

The superhero stuff, especially as a continuing plotline, however, is well and truly screwed, anally, without Vaseline. If that's what you want, you are well advised to duck No Ordinary Family.

PS A crossover between The Middle and No Ordinary Family would be great! Daphne the mind reader paired with Axl the mindless, and J.J. the genius paired with Brick the genius. Pure comedy gold.

I like No Odinary Family. Its not a great show, but it can be a good show. Its especially good when it focuses on the father character. He's without a doubt the best character in the show. That said I do like the mom some and the mom's sidekick. The dad's sidekick can be ok somtimes too. Not a fan of either of the kids though. Their storylines are usually not that good.

I'm looking forward to seeing Lucy Lawless and Tricia Helfer on the show! I didn't care for Xena, but Lawless was good on Battlestar & so was Tricia (both were good on Burn Notice too).

NOF can be a fun show. I bet it won't be back next season. lol.

i'm enjoying NOF. it's leaps and bounds better than Heroes. NOF doesnt take itself too serious, it has fun with the premise and powers.

I really enjoy the show, but I must confess that I missed the last couple of episodes. I hope it goes for another season.
