I'm thinking the creators of Heroes need to sue the creators of this show.
Really? Season one of Heroes produced a lot of discussion because it was entertaining, had a lot of characters, lots of mysteries, was densely plotted and the writers played around with some of the comic/super hero staples in interesting ways set against a heavily serialized epic season long arc. As a result there was a lot to absorb and pick up on that wasn't obvious. Seasons 2-4 of Heroes generated a lot of discussion because it was so mediocre that people had to commiserate with others about all the problems with the show.I thought this would at least do as well as Heroes in terms of generating discussion.
Well, I like the show overall.
This ciming from someone who puts down 95% of the shows he posts threads on. I know opinion is one thing, but when that many of a percentage of shows you say you dislike,...makes you wonder what his childhood is like?...startrekwatcher;4485151[QUOTE said:This series is so decidedly bland and derivative that I can't see it motivating people to talk about it at all since it plays it so safe that while there isn't anything to praise about it there in't a whole lot to complain about either. This show apes a lot of stuff from Heroes but doesn't execute it nearly well as Season one of Heroes did and so soon after that show it is just more blatant. This is like a Disney version of Heroes in just about every way.
What are you talking about? I sample a few shows each season that look like I might be interested in. If they don't do it--like this one--I stop watching. I haven't posted in a No Ordinary Family thread since the pilot until now. I thought Caprica was pretentious crap and you won't find a post in any of those episode discussion threads since I stopped watching it several episodes ago. I can't stand Buffy, Angel, Dr Who, Torchwood, Angel, Stargate Universe, Rubicon, True Blood, Smallville but do you see me posting in those episode threads? So I don't know what other shows you are referring to.This ciming from someone who puts down 95% of the shows he posts threads on. Well if I were precise I could copy and paste the threads you have posted in the last year or so...startrekwatcher;4485151 This ciming from someone who puts down 95% of the shows he posts threads on. I can't help it that Hollywood puts out so much crap anymore these days--forgive me for wanting to be entertained and expecting more than recycled storylines, weak writing and uninteresting characters. As another poster argued in another thread...."What do you do...copy and paste your reviews for every episode?"
You don't like the show that's fine....
not the episodes...likeways
but feel free to put everything down that isn't from Abrams...![]()
I don't think he will,...you have the tele-K guy asshole...How long until Zachary Quinto finally appears on this show as Sylar, thus making this show a spinoff of Heroes?![]()
If I happen to have enjoyed a show like Supernatural or LOST but it comes off the rail I'm going to watch it until the end and criticize it if it deserves it. And I don't see why you have a problem or even care if I choose to talk about what I like or dislike in a tv show--afterall this is a *discussion* board--expect differing opinions.Well if I were precise I could copy and paste the threads you have posted in the last year or so...As another poster argued in another thread...."What do you do...copy and paste your reviews for every episode?"
I don't know why you brought up JJ Abrams. I'm not particularly impressed by a lot of what he does either. I thought ALIAS fell apart at the end, Undercovers is more bland crap, FRINGE is a hit-or-miss series although it has been better this season. I didn't care what he did in Star Trek XI either--I thought it was a shallow, emotionless, ADHD film with a villain as a cypher with irrational motives and throw in a pointless cameo by Nimoy. And the brilliance of LOST had nothing to do with him except his name in the credits.but feel free to put everything down that isn't from Abrams...![]()
That's a good description of why I decided to DVR Glee this week instead. Maybe I'll give next week's ep another shot, but I'm pretty much done with this boring-ass show. This series is so decidedly bland and derivative that I can't see it motivating people to talk about it at all since it plays it so safe that while there isn't anything to praise about it there in't a whole lot to complain about either. Exactly what I am talking about...it just seems you are NEVER happy with your reviews on whatever you watch... Except in the Star Trek 2009 movie a couple of years ago. Most of the shows "if you can get into "escapism" are rather quite done well"If I happen to have enjoyed a show like Supernatural or LOST but it comes off the rail I'm going to watch it until the end and criticize it if it deserves it.
