They don't even try to come up with anything new--as evidenced by all the shows/films being redone(Hawaii 5-0, Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, The Rockford Files, 90210, Melrose Place 2.0, Nikita, The Munsters). Not to mention the blatant spin-offs that networks are unashamed off airing at the same time that are just carbon copies of each other i.e. Law & Order, Law & Order:LA, Criminal Minds and its spin-off, NCIS, NCIS: LA, CSI, CSI NY, CSI Miami.
I'm so tired of people sitting back and accepting mediocrity--whether in entertainment, music, politics or whatever.
Because tv anymore is pretty much *crap*. It simply isn't as good as what came out ten, fifteen, 20 years ago. I don't know where they get writers anymore but they aren't nearly as skilled as the ones from back then--so much so that television and films have gotten into a terrible habit of just recycling stories I've seen dozens of times--ENT's first two seasons were a collection of tired retreads from the other Trek series, Fringe borrows heavily from The X-Files, hospital/cop/lawyer dramas are the same stuff we've seen for decades i.e. The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles, Memphis Beat. Same for the spy stuff like Covert Affairs.

No they aren't in my opinion. I'm pretty lenient letting a lot of stuff slide as long as I'm entertained. I can let inaccurate science by and continuity errors go and I can suspend my disbelief if necessary but if I'm bored and what I'm watching has no coherent storyline or the characters are dull or the actors have no presence or the stories are stale and predictable and covered up by action sequences or visual effects or fast pacing in the hopes of not giving the viewer time to see all the problems then I'm going to bitch and moan.
