I'm obsessed with this game. Of course, it's the first new game I've had in years and years.
I can find Heridium all over the place. Almost as plentiful as plutonium. Now, I can't find Chrysonite to save my life. Can't even buy the stuff.
Find a shelter with one of those scanners - the yellow/orange beam shooting in the sky. Scan for a transmission. Sometimes it will find a transmission from a drop pod. That's the little metal teepee looking things. Each drop pod has 1 slot for the exo-suit. Also, once you acquire an Atlas Pass 1 you can get an expansion slot at each space station you visit. Land at the station and take the ramp on the left. Use an Atlas Pass 1 to unlock that door. Expansion slot is inside. Remember that the expansion slots cost in ever increasing $10,000 increments.
Bypass chips can only be used once. However, you can keep making them and using them on the same scanner. I typically make 3 and scan for a transmission, shelter and either colonial outpost or monolith depending on my mood.
In my 3rd star system. I've 100% scanned lifeforms on 1 planet and I'm 1 shy of that on the planet I'm on now. One I find that last animal I'm outta here to the next planet. Think I'll take my time and thoroughly explore this star system because the next jump I make is to a space anomaly and I start down the Atlas path. I've got a 22 slot ship, 17 slot mining tool and like a 26 or 28 slot exo suit.
Have Iron and some Plutonium. Have not found any Heridium, maybe a rare deposit where I am located?

Have not see the tepees, but have made "friends" with two species of animal. Not certain about more ground exploration, move the ship to another ground point or explore the system as I have no warp drive plans.
